Opening ceremony of “Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2026 – Get on Hanoi” with the theme “The Green Tourism Journey.”
A green tourism journey rooted in responsibility and trust
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Tran Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, said Hanoi enters 2026 with a renewed mindset, stronger confidence and a powerful aspiration for development.
He noted that the success of the 14th National Party Congress has set out important strategic directions for the country and for the capital, reaffirming tourism as a key, integrated economic sector imbued with cultural, humanistic and sustainable values.
“Building on the success of the Get on Hanoi programs since 2022, Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2026 – Get on Hanoi 2026, with the theme The Green Tourism Journey, clearly reflects Hanoi’s development orientation in the coming period," said Hieu.
This includes harmonious development with nature, preservation and promotion of heritage, encouragement of innovation and the delivery of friendly, safe and emotionally engaging experiences for visitors."
Tran Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, delivers the opening remarks.
According to the deputy director, the green tourism journey that Hanoi is pursuing is a journey of responsibility toward ancestral heritage, the current living environment and future generations. It is also a journey of trust, grounded in the belief that Hanoi can become a leading destination for green tourism, cultural tourism and experiential tourism closely linked with outstanding historical, cultural and artistic values in the region.
Amid the spring atmosphere spreading across the capital’s streets, Hieu emphasized that “Get on Hanoi 2026 is not only a New Year greeting but also an invitation to domestic and international visitors. It calls on them to come to Hanoi to savor the spirit of spring, explore the depth of traditional culture through performing arts, cuisine, festivals, traditional craft villages and distinctive urban spaces where national identity blends harmoniously with international culture.”
A key highlight of the opening ceremony was the announcement and presentation of decisions recognizing new tourist sites, alongside the introduction of more than 80 distinctive tourism experiences planned for Hanoi in 2026.
Three sites received official recognition on this occasion: the Hanoi Botanical Garden tourist site in Tay Tuu Ward, the Thiet Ung fine art woodcraft village tourist site and the Thuy Lam tourist site in Thu Lam Commune.
Hieu said these destinations are rich in cultural, historical and natural landscape values. They contribute to expanding tourism spaces in suburban and outlying areas while linking local communities, with the goal of sustainable tourism development.
The recognition of tourist sites is not only a matter of state management but also a starting point for localities and units to further invest in service quality, develop distinctive products and strengthen promotion.
A vibrant, multi-layered experience space
At the opening ceremony, residents and visitors enjoyed a specially staged art program that connected the capital’s past, present and future through three chapters. Chapter I, “Hanoi – Where the Nation Converges,” took audiences back to the city’s historical depth and cultural values.
Chapter II, “City of Colors,” portrayed a romantic, dynamic and creative Hanoi full of contemporary vitality while honoring newly announced tourism products. Chapter III, “The Fresh Green Journey,” conveyed a message of responsible green tourism and a sustainable future.
Organizers present decisions recognizing three new tourist sites, namely the Hanoi Botanical Garden, Thiet Ung fine art woodcraft village and the Thuy Lam tourist site.
Get on Hanoi 2026 is designed as a comprehensive tourism experience ecosystem that harmoniously connects space, people, culture and creativity. Over three days, the program highlights new tourism trends in the capital, ranging from eco-tourism, craft village tourism and cultural heritage tourism to community-based tourism and green tourism aligned with social responsibility.
On the afternoon and evening of January 30, residents and visitors experienced West Lake lotus tea spaces, interactive check-in activities and exhibitions promoting Hanoi’s tourism and cultural products.
The program also announced a range of new tourism products and experiences, including the Flag Tower Memories series and the Thang Long Imperial Citadel 3D mapping performance, a night cycling tour exploring Hanoi’s urban nightscape and the “Hanoi – Touching the Realm of Memories” journey around the Truc Bach area.
Craft village and cultural tourism routes were also introduced, notably the Southern Thang Long Heritage Route linking the Quang Phu Cau incense village in Ung Thien Commune with lotus silk and silk weaving villages in Hong Son Commune.
Other experiences include the Path of Scholarship at the Ha Mo tourist site in O Dien Commune, the Tuong Phieu Floral Space in Phuc Tho Commune and green tourism experiences in Da Phuc, collectively portraying a Hanoi rich in cultural depth and close to nature.
A new feature of Get on Hanoi 2026 is its close linkage with the Mong Tet Goes to the City program, organized by the Tay Ho Ward People’s Committee and the Gia Lai Tourism Festival in Hanoi, hosted by Gia Lai Province. On January 31, 2026, Mong Tet Goes to the City 2026 vividly recreates the traditional Tet atmosphere of the Mong ethnic community in the heart of the capital.
Activities include the Gau Tao festival for blessings and peace, cultural performances, the Tub – Ntxhais Vam Meej contest for young men and women, a talk show on Mong culture in the contemporary world and spaces featuring folk games, cuisine and cultural stalls.
The art program marking the 10th anniversary of Mong Tet Goes to the City stands out as an emotional highlight, spreading a message of preserving cultural identity and strengthening community bonds across generations.
