Hanoi eyes western growth boost through cultural village transfer

A Hanoi delegation led by Vu Dai Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, and Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, on May 18, conducted a field inspection and held a working session with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and related agencies regarding the transfer and handover of the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism.

Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Dai Thang has signed Decision No. 2512/QD-UBND dated May 13, 2026, approving Hanoi's comprehensive master plan with a 100-year vision.
The Hanoi People's Committee, on the evening of May 8, held a ceremony to celebrate the inclusion of Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay and lacquerware village and Son Dong lacquer sculpture village as members of the World Crafts Cities Creative Network at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
On May 8, Hanoi welcomed a World Craft Council delegation attending the ceremony recognizing two local craft villages as members of the World Crafts Cities Network, alongside activities promoting traditional handicrafts, international cooperation and sustainable craft village development.
