On January 16, the Hanoi People's Committee held a conference to introduce candidates for the 17th Hanoi People's Council during 2026–2031 term.
Attending the conference were Party Central Committee member, Vice Party Secretary and Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Dai Thang, Standing Member of the Hanoi Party Committee's Standing Board and Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan, Vice Chairmen of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen and Nguyen Xuan Luu and representatives of departments and related units.
At the conference, Vice Chief of the Office of the Hanoi People's Committee Dinh Quoc Hung said that, in line with procedures for introducing candidates for the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, the Standing Board of the Party Committee of the Hanoi People's Committee unanimously agreed to nominate Party Central Committee member, Vice Party Secretary and Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Dai Thang, Standing Committee member and Standing Vice Chairman Duong Duc Tuan, and Standing Committee member and Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Quyen as candidates for the 17th Hanoi People's Council for the 2026–2031 term.
Following this, Vu Huy Binh, Head of the Internal Affairs Division of the Office of the Hanoi People's Committee, presented brief biographies of Vu Dai Thang, Duong Duc Tuan and Nguyen Manh Quyen.
At the conference, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen spoke on behalf of the nominated officials.
He expressed sincere appreciation for the leadership and direction of the City Party Committee, the close coordination and support of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi People's Council and the assistance of city leaders, civil servants and voters that enabled the nominees to participate in the conference.
Quyen stressed that, if voters place their trust in them and elect them as Hanoi People's Council deputies for the 2026–2031 term, this will represent not only a personal honor but also a major responsibility, first to the collective leadership of the Hanoi People's Committee and, more importantly, to the voters of the capital.
"Before voters, we solemnly commit that, if elected, we will strictly comply with the law, the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's regulations and uphold discipline and order in the activities of the Hanoi People's Council," he said.
"At the same time, as leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee, we will make every effort to uphold responsibility and professional capacity, stay close to the people, listen carefully to voters' legitimate aspirations and reflect them fully in our leadership and management," Quyen added.
Delegates vote to approve the nomination of the candidates for the 17th Hanoi People's Council during 2026–2031 term.
He said the administration will seriously absorb voters' opinions and proposals and reflect them in governance and decision-making to promote the city's socio-economic development.
Quyen also committed to addressing the difficulties, obstacles and practical issues that voters raise.
He expressed his hope to continue receiving attention, coordination and support from leaders, officials, civil servants and employees of agencies and units, especially the Office of the Hanoi People's Committee, as well as the supervision and support of voters, so that public concerns can be resolved promptly and effectively, contributing to improved governance quality and sustainable development of the capital.
On behalf of the nominees, Quyen sincerely thanked all levels, sectors and voters for their trust and support during the nomination process for the 2026–2031 term.
At the conference, voters from the Hanoi People's Committee expressed strong consensus on the list of candidates for the 17th Hanoi People's Council for the 2026–2031 term.
Specifically, all 118 voters present voted unanimously to nominate Vu Dai Thang, Duong Duc Tuan and Nguyen Manh Quyen as candidates for the 17th Hanoi People's Council.
