On April 15, the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology issued a press release announcing activities to mark the World Intellectual Property Day (April 26) in Hanoi.

In line with the direction of the Hanoi People's Committee, on March 6, 2026, the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology issued Plan No. 1230 on organizing the 2026 World Intellectual Property Day event.

The event will be held in Hanoi under the theme selected by the World Intellectual Property Organization, Intellectual Property and Sports: "Ready, Set, Innovate".

The event aims to implement central and city policies on developing the innovation ecosystem and raising public awareness of the role of intellectual property in the context of a knowledge-based economy and digital transformation.

It also seeks to strengthen communication and dissemination of intellectual property laws, particularly in the sports sector, a rapidly growing field associated with various intellectual assets, such as broadcasting rights, trademarks, designs, data and digital technologies.

In addition, the event will promote connections among stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem, including government agencies, businesses, research institutions, athletes, startups, youth and students, thereby fostering ideas, initiatives and collaboration in exploiting, protecting and commercializing intellectual assets.

The event will also help promote Hanoi's image as a center of innovation with a favorable environment for intellectual property development, cultural creativity and creative industries.

The Hanoi Department of Science and Technology, in coordination with the Intellectual Property Office under the Ministry of Science and Technology and Hanoi University of Science and Technology, will organize activities to mark World Intellectual Property Day 2026 with the following details:

- Event name: Celebration of World Intellectual Property Day April 26, 2026 under the theme selected by the World Intellectual Property Organization, Intellectual Property and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate.

- Time: From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on April 17, 2026.

- Venue: Central square area, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, No. 1 Dai Co Viet Street, Bach Mai Ward, Hanoi.

- Participants, approximately 250 people, include:

+ Representatives of leadership from the Ministry of Science and Technology.

+ Representatives of leadership from the Hanoi People's Committee.

+ Leadership of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

+ Representatives of city departments, agencies and local authorities.

+ Experts, businesses and the capital's student and youth community.

- Main contents of the event:

+ Interactive mini game "IP and Sports Challenge" using QR quizzes and staged scenarios.

+ Musical and performance activities in response to World Intellectual Property Day 2026, following the selected theme.

+ Announcement of the theme message: Intellectual Property and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate.

+ Highlight of the event: The central ceremony featuring the "Sports Innovation Map" and a declaration and commitment presented through digital technology effects.
