On January 4, the Hanoi Department of Tourism said this year's New Year holiday lasted four days. During this period, Hanoi received around 560,000 visitors, up about 250% year on year. International arrivals were estimated at 110,000, up roughly 287%, while domestic visitors reached 450,000, an increase of about 241%.
Tourism revenue was estimated at VND2.1 trillion (US$85.8 million), up around 254% from the same period last year. This was the highest level ever recorded.

According to data from heritage sites, museums, parks, eco-tourism and resort destinations across the city, visitor numbers surged sharply during the first three days of the holiday, from January 1 to January 3.
Hanoi Zoo welcomed 38,350 visitors, while Temple of Literature received 22,848 visitors. The Thang Long Imperial Citadel attracted more than 9,000 visitors.
Duong Lam Ancient Village welcomed 5,500 visitors, while the Duong Xa tourism site in Gia Lam recorded 3,560 visitors. Tourist sites in Hoan Kiem Ward received 2,450 visitors, Bat Trang Pottery Village welcomed 1,850 visitors, Perfume Pagoda received 1,686 visitors, Ba Vi recorded 1,560 visitors, Ung Thien welcomed 1,000 visitors, Hoa Lo Prison Relic received 11,259 visitors and Bao Son Paradise Park welcomed nearly 6,000 visitors.

During the New Year holiday, hotels across the city prepared facilities, staff and services to provide a quality experience for visitors and residents. Many hotels introduced promotional packages with strong incentives and year-end activities.
Sheraton Hanoi Hotel launched its Festive Stay package with discounts of up to 50%. Fortuna Hotel Hanoi offered room discounts of 15%. InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72 provided complimentary room upgrades and late check-out. L7 West Lake Hanoi introduced the "The Golden Chapter 2025" package designed for year-end festivities. Pan Pacific Hanoi organized a range of culinary and music experiences on New Year's Eve to welcome 2026.
Average hotel occupancy was estimated at 73.8%, up 0.5 percentage points from the same period in 2025. Several four- and five-star hotels and serviced apartment complexes recorded very high occupancy rates, including Hotel de l'Opera – MGallery Hanoi at 99%, Muong Thanh Xa La Hotel at 98%, Lacasa Hotel Hanoi at 99%, Novotel Hanoi Thai Ha at 93% and Grand Mercure Hanoi at 92%.

Overall, accommodation providers and tourism service businesses across Hanoi strictly implemented measures to ensure security, safety, fire prevention, food safety and environmental hygiene while proactively upgrading service quality and facilities. During the 2026 New Year holiday, the average length of stay increased, reinforcing Hanoi's position as a safe and attractive destination.
According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the sharp growth in visitor numbers and tourism revenue during the 2026 New Year holiday was driven by the four-day break, which allowed residents and visitors to better plan their time for leisure and travel, combined with the strong appeal of the city's tourism products and destinations.
Tourism activities during the 2026 New Year holiday were lively and well organized across attractions. A key highlight this year was the focus on service quality upgrades, the launch of new tourism programs and products and the organization of cultural and artistic activities running from New Year through the Lunar New Year of 2026 to stimulate demand and attract visitors.

Notable events across the city included fireworks displays at five locations with six launch sites, 3D mapping performances, artistic lighting spaces and heritage tourism products creating a vibrant New Year experience around Hoan Kiem Lake.
A large-scale 3D mapping show titled "Thang Long Capital" and a digital experience space were launched at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel. The digital exhibition "Radiant Hanoi – Light and Heritage" opened at 93 Dinh Tien Hoang Exhibition House and was free to the public during the New Year period.
In addition, attractions continued to host a wide range of cultural and artistic activities, including the "Vietnamese Sounds" New Year art program at the Temple of Literature, educational conservation experiences at Hanoi Zoo, a digital Hanoi Museum experience at Ba Kieu Temple Garden, the "Highland Market Fair – Welcoming 2026" at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism and the New Year event SAY HI 2026 at Bao Son Paradise Park.
Hanoi Department of Tourism Director Dang Huong Giang said that to ensure service quality and visitor safety, the department had instructed tourism businesses to strictly comply with regulations on travel services, tour guides and tourist transport, alongside maintaining urban order and public spaces.
She said the local authorities had addressed issues such as harassment, solicitation, overcharging and tourist scams at destinations across the city. To date, the department's Tourist Information and Support Center has received no complaints or requests from residents or visitors related to the tourism environment, security or visitor safety.
