Hanoi rewards VND2 billion to Vietnam national football team

Vietnam's men's football team on January 5 claimed the ASEAN Cup 2024 title, defeating Thailand 3-2 in the return leg of the final at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok. To celebrate the victory and motivate the team, Hanoi decided to reward the national squad VND2 billion (US$78,786).

This gesture underscores Hanoi's ongoing support for the nation's cultural and sports activities, as well as its role in promoting football passion among the capital's residents.

Throughout the tournament, the Vietnam team demonstrated remarkable effort and determination, with their perseverance earning the admiration of fans. After a strong semi-final performance, the team secured a 2-1 victory over Thailand in the first leg of the final at Viet Tri Stadium, setting the stage for their triumphant win in the return leg.

As news of the victory spread, thousands of people poured into Hanoi's central streets to celebrate. The atmosphere was electric, with horns blaring, chants of "Vietnam Champion," and flags waving in the breeze. Motorcades and groups of young celebrants added to the festive spirit, highlighting the unity and love for football that the victory inspired.

This marks the third time Vietnam's men's football team has won the ASEAN Cup (formerly the Tiger Cup and AFF Cup), solidifying their dominance in Southeast Asia.
