On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Physicians' Day (February 27, 1955 – February 27, 2025), on behalf of the city's leadership, Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council, and Deputy Head of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation, on February 26 visited and extended congratulations to the medical staff of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and Duc Giang General Hospital.

At Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, Dr. Duong Duc Hung, the hospital's director, informed the working delegation that the hospital has consistently collaborated well with local authorities and has received strong support from the district to fulfill its duties. In 2024, the hospital successfully carried out tens of thousands of complex surgeries, with a particular highlight being advanced organ transplants.

The hospital has also actively promoted digital transformation, implementing remote medical consultations through online conferences, which have been especially valuable during natural disasters and have received high praise. Additionally, it has provided technical support and knowledge transfer to lower-level hospitals, including several facilities in Hanoi.

Looking ahead, the hospital plans to further research robotic applications and implement high-tech procedures to meet the growing demand for medical care, particularly for residents of Hoan Kiem District and Hanoi. Notably, by 2025, the hospital aims to complete the implementation of electronic health records to facilitate patient care and treatment.

On behalf of the city's leadership, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan extended his best wishes to the hospital's leadership and medical staff, wishing them good health and success in fulfilling their duty of caring for the people's well-being.

Tuan affirmed that Hanoi has always prioritized public health. In his role as Head of the Steering Committee for Program No. 08-CTr/TU of the 17th Hanoi Party Committee on "Developing the Social Security System, Enhancing Social Welfare, and Improving the Quality of Life for Hanoi Residents for the 2021-2025 Period," he has provided consistent and timely directives to ensure that the well-being of the people remains a top priority.

Overview of the visit.

Following this, the delegation visited and extended congratulations at Duc Giang General Hospital. Hospital Director Nguyen Van Thuong provided an overview of the hospital's activities, stating that in 2024, it has focused on comprehensive development, improving medical services, developing human resources, and creating an environment conducive to learning and professional growth.

A significant achievement has been the successful implementation of a kidney transplant program for both living and brain-dead donors, marking a major milestone in the hospital's medical advancements. The hospital has performed ten successful kidney transplants, eight from living donors and two from brain-dead donors, significantly improving patients' quality of life.

Additionally, the hospital has incorporated several advanced medical techniques into its routine operations, including vascular interventions, early puberty diagnosis and treatment, CT-guided lung tumor biopsies, and continuous renal replacement therapy for children. It has also prioritized high-quality workforce training, infrastructure upgrades, and the procurement of medical supplies and equipment to enhance both routine medical services and advanced specialized treatments.

Duc Giang General Hospital is classified as a first-tier general hospital with 45 departments, eight specialized units, and over 1,000 staff members. It serves the healthcare needs of residents in northern Hanoi and is one of the leading institutions in the city's healthcare system.

On behalf of the city's leadership, Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan conveyed his best wishes to the hospital's staff, commending their dedication and achievements in providing medical care to the public. He emphasized that Hanoi places great importance on social welfare, particularly in healthcare.

Over the years, Hanoi has invested significantly in the three sectors of healthcare, education, and culture, including the renovation and upgrading of medical facilities. He urged Duc Giang General Hospital to continue strengthening its infrastructure, expanding the application of information technology, enhancing the skills of its medical staff, and improving the living and working conditions of healthcare workers.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Physicians' Day, Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan expressed his hope that every medical professional at Duc Giang General Hospital would uphold the spirit of responsibility and follow President Ho Chi Minh's teaching that "a good doctor must be like a kind mother," ensuring the highest level of care for the people.

On behalf of the hospital's staff, Hospital Director Nguyen Van Thuong expressed gratitude for the city's leadership's attention and affirmed that the hospital would implement the Chairman's directives to further improve its operations and better serve public healthcare needs.
