
Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh and Ambassador to Mexico Alejandro Negrin Munoz
Ambassador Alejandro Negrin Munoz expressed his appreciation to the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh for taking the time to receive the delegation. He noted that Hanoi and Mexico City share several similarities, including the presence of many rivers, which he described as a distinctive feature of the Vietnamese capital.
According to the Ambassador, 2025 will be a milestone year for Vietnam and Mexico as the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. He stated that Mexico is a major importer of Vietnamese goods, the largest in the Caribbean and Latin American regions, and emphasized that the economic relationship between the two countries continues to strengthen. In November 2024, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Brazil, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. Ambassador Negrin Munoz said the meeting was evidence of the strong political ties between the two nations.
Updating Chairman Tran Sy Thanh on recent developments in Mexico City, Ambassador Negrin Munoz said the capital, home to 25 million people, is a large metropolis that has seen advances in various sectors such as transportation and water management. He expressed hopes for future cooperation opportunities with Hanoi.
In particular, the Ambassador highlighted that the Mexican Embassy will organize several activities in 2025 to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Mexico. Among them is an exhibition titled "Journey to Ancient Mexico," which will showcase artifacts from one of Mexico's ancient civilizations.

Ambassador Negrin Munoz expressed hope that the exhibition would attract public interest in Hanoi and across Vietnam. He also conveyed his wish for the city's authorities to support and facilitate the event, scheduled to take place on May 19 at the Hoan Kiem Lake center (93 Dinh Tien Hoang Street).
Thanking the Ambassador for his proposals, Chairman Tran Sy Thanh emphasized that this year holds special significance in the bilateral relationship and that Vietnam deeply values Mexico's goodwill. He welcomed the Embassy's exhibition initiative and instructed relevant departments and agencies to provide full support and ensure the event's success.
Chairman Tran Sy Thanh also pledged that the city government will support not only this exhibition but all other events organized by the Mexican Embassy in celebration of the diplomatic ties between the two countries.
