Nguyen Manh Quyen, Standing Committee member of the Hanoi Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, attended the event and presented the titles to the artisans.
The event was organized by the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, under authorization from the Hanoi People’s Committee, to recognize and honor the contributions of artisans and skilled craftsmen in preserving and promoting the nation’s tangible and intangible cultural values.
Their work has played an important role in maintaining, restoring, and developing the capital’s traditional handicraft industries, while creating jobs for workers in craft villages.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Quyen said handicraft products are not merely everyday items but the crystallization of both physical and intellectual labor, created by the skilled hands and creativity of craftsmen.
Many traditional handicraft products have high artistic value, with each item representing a unique work of art that reflects the distinctive features of national culture, the level of economic development, educational attainment, human values, and the specific identity of each traditional craft village. Handicrafts, in particular, are precious legacies created by previous generations and passed down to future ones.
Through refined craftsmanship and distinctive cultural styles, Hanoi’s handicraft products have helped strengthen and promote traditional cultural values, while introducing the beauty of the capital’s culture to other localities and the wider world.

Traditional products from Hanoi have also spread to the surrounding areas. Many cultural heritages in Hanoi that are now regarded as national treasures are the products of craftsmen from Thang Long, Hanoi, including the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the Temple of Literature, and the One Pillar Pagoda.
According to Quyen, these achievements are closely linked to the vital contributions of artisans, who represent the finest among thousands of skilled workers trained and refined over generations.
They are the custodians of traditional techniques, who know how to innovate designs without losing traditional character, while maintaining aesthetic value, quality, and the cultural essence embodied in each product. Artisans therefore serve as the core force in passing on skills, training craftsmen, and nurturing younger generations in craft villages.
Recognizing the importance of artisans and skilled workers, the Hanoi People’s Committee, in recent years, has directed departments, sectors, and local authorities to implement programs to confer the Hanoi Artisan title and to review and recommend candidates for the National Artisan and Meritorious Artisan titles.

The city has also rolled out support measures for artisans, including vocational training, skill transmission, craft incubation, trade promotion, brand building, domestic and international fairs and exhibitions, demonstration models, and technology transfer, funded through industrial promotion, trade promotion, and tourism promotion programs.
In 2025, Hanoi officially recognized 64 Hanoi Artisans, while the President conferred titles on three National Artisans and 28 Meritorious Artisans in the fifth round. This brings the total number of Hanoi Artisans honored over different periods to 450.
To further promote the talents and contributions of Hanoi artisans, Quyen called on the Department of Industry and Trade to continue guiding, inspecting, and urging commune and ward authorities to implement the conferral process in line with regulations.
He also urged the development of plans to enhance technical and artistic knowledge for artisans, the organization of skills competitions to nurture the next generation of artisans, regular handicraft fairs and exhibitions, and training programs for product design development.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment was tasked with promoting the development of Hanoi Artisans in craft villages, as the backbone for advancing traditional crafts and craft villages.

Delegates at the event.
Commune and ward authorities were asked to continue outreach and guidance to encourage skilled workers to participate in the selection process for Hanoi Artisan, Meritorious Artisan, and National Artisan titles. Professional associations were urged to coordinate with local authorities to identify and recommend qualified candidates.
Vice Chairman Quyen also called on Hanoi artisans to continue innovating in production and business, to create refined handicraft products with high economic value for domestic and international markets, thereby contributing to the capital’s socio-economic development.
He encouraged them to actively engage in training and skill transmission, share production experience, improve product designs, invest in new production technologies to enhance quality, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact, and participate in domestic and international exhibitions each year to showcase new products.
