Speaking at the ceremony, the Hanoi Party Chief congratulated the establishment of the Hanoi Media Group following the merger of six city media organizations.
Ngoc said the decision marked an important milestone in streamlining and restructuring the organizational apparatus in line with the Central Government's and Hanoi's direction. The new agency builds on the proud tradition of revolutionary journalism in the capital and affirms its mission as a bridge between the Party Committee, authorities and the people of Hanoi.
According to Ngoc, Hanoi is moving forward with the nation into a new era. The city is determined to build a modern governance model described as a digital Party organization, a facilitative government, pioneering enterprises and social consensus.
It is also completing three strategic pillars of planning, institutions and development models with a 100-year vision and beyond, aiming to develop Hanoi as a cultured, distinctive and creative capital with aspirations to become a modern global city.
In that context, city media organizations must continue to innovate, take the lead and accompany the Party Committee, authorities and people of the capital in implementing the resolutions of the 18th Hanoi Party Congress, the 14th National Party Congress and key strategic resolutions of the Central Government.
Hanoi Party Chief Nguyen Duy Ngoc delivers remarks at the ceremony.
Ngoc praised the capital's media outlets for fulfilling their communication mission, particularly in reporting on Party congresses at all levels and major tasks, fostering social consensus and strengthening public trust in the Party Committee and political system. He highlighted their role in countering erroneous viewpoints and firmly protecting the Party's ideological foundation.
Emphasizing that the press is a forum for the people to express legitimate aspirations, Ngoc noted that in an era of unprecedented information flows and the rise of social media, the role of mainstream journalism in guiding public opinion is more important than ever. Hanoi's press must not only report news but also shape opinion, anticipate trends and accompany the government in development and public service.
Ngoc outlined three core requirements for the agency. First is shifting from reporting events to helping shape solutions through forward-looking journalism. Second is a comprehensive digital transformation toward a converged media ecosystem in the era of artificial intelligence while preserving core journalistic values. Third is building a team of journalists with strong political integrity, professional ethics and multi-platform skills.
To implement these requirements, Ngoc assigned five key tasks. These include building a professional, humane and modern capital press system; streamlining the organizational structure from the outset; fostering unity, creativity and breakthroughs; encouraging initiative and leadership in coverage; and strengthening ties with the public with trust as the ultimate measure of success.
"I propose studying and implementing a community journalism model, in which each ward and commune has at least one reporter closely following local developments," Ngoc stressed.
Ngoc said staff should uphold guiding words: Pioneer and Accompany, Modern and Convergent, Integrity and Professionalism.
He expressed confidence that the establishment of the Hanoi Media Group marks the beginning of a new journey for capital journalism in the new era. Despite challenges ahead, he said the agency would fulfill its mission with unity, intellect and dedication.
For his part, Tuan said he was honored by the trust placed in him and described the role as both a distinction and a significant responsibility. Tuan thanked city leaders and expressed gratitude to generations of journalists who built the strong traditions of Hanoi's press.
Affirming the strategic nature of the merger, Tuan said the agency aims to become a leading force in information, public opinion guidance and solution-oriented journalism. He emphasized that the twelve guiding words would serve as professional commitments for every staff member.
Tuan expressed confidence that with clear direction from the Hanoi Party Committee, close leadership from city authorities and the collective spirit of the agency's staff, the Hanoi Media Group would successfully fulfill its tasks and live up to the trust of the Party Committee, authorities and people of the capital.
