Hanoi militia units honor and pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh.
The Hanoi Capital Command on March 25 held a solemn ceremony to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh in honor of the 90th anniversary of the Militia and Self-Defense Forces (March 28, 1935 - March 28, 2025).
The ceremony at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum was attended by Nguyen Van Phong, Standing Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Lieutenant General Tran Ngoc Tuan, Standing Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Hanoi Capital Command, Major General Dao Van Nhan, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Hanoi Capital Command, and representatives from the Ministry of National Defense.
In a solemn atmosphere, the delegation of the Hanoi Capital Command respectfully reported their outstanding achievements to President Ho Chi Minh.
According to Major General Dao Van Nhan, the Hanoi militia and self-defense forces, under the leadership of the Party Committee and the Resistance Committee, have rapidly developed over the past 90 years.
They have played a key role in protecting revolutionary gatherings and demonstrations.
The militia and self-defense units have safeguarded Party leadership agencies and acted as shock forces alongside the regular army and local military units in attacking enemy forces and securing revolutionary power in the capital.
Following the Party's policies on building a people's armed force and national defense, the Hanoi Capital Command has actively advised the city's leadership in strengthening the militia and self-defense forces, making them stronger and more widespread.

The command has effectively implemented various programs, especially Program No.09-CTr/TU of the Hanoi Party Committee (17th term) on enhancing national defense potential, ensuring political security, and maintaining social order in Hanoi for the 2021-2025 period.
Hanoi has established nearly 1,600 militia and self-defense units with a total of 100,000 members, of whom more than 22.9% are Party members. The city has also formed 10 platoons and 156 standing militia squads, ensuring that militia units are always available in all key defense areas.
Carrying on the tradition of being a Heroic People's Armed Force unit, the capital's militia and self-defense personnel have actively coordinated with other forces to maintain political security and social order. They have played a vital role in disaster response, disease prevention, and search and rescue operations.
Over the past 90 years of development and combat, under the Party's leadership, Vietnam's militia and self-defense forces, particularly in Hanoi, have remained united, loyal to the nation and the people, and committed to the Party's revolutionary cause.
Throughout different revolutionary periods, over 370 units and 284 individuals have received the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and the State. In 2015, the State President honored the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Forces with the Gold Star Order.
To fulfill their mission and contribute to the nation's new era, before President Ho Chi Minh's spirit, the officers and soldiers of the capital's armed forces pledged absolute loyalty to the Party, the nation, and the people under any circumstances.
"The capital's militia and self-defense forces will continue to sharpen their revolutionary vigilance, strengthen their combat spirit, cultivate their ethics, and remain steadfast in protecting the Party, the State, the people, and the socialist system," affirmed Major General Dao Van Nhan.
