Strong focus on land clearance
Reporting on socio-economic development, Secretary of the Thuong Tin Commune Party Committee and Chairman of the Thuong Tin Commune People's Council Nguyen Xuan Minh said that during the first three months of 2026, total state budget revenue in the commune reached VND113.7 billion (US$, equal to 13.49% of the assigned target.
Regarding investment and construction, the commune has 86 projects in 2026, including 78 ongoing projects and eight new ones. The new projects are currently adjusting estimates based on updated price announcements and are expected to select contractors and begin construction in the first quarter of 2026.
Land clearance has been identified as a key task and has been implemented decisively. Since July 2025, the commune has completed land clearance covering approximately 190,424.46 square meters involving 546 households, ensuring progress for development projects and helping promote infrastructure growth and attract investment.
Current land clearance efforts focus on projects such as the Olympic Sports Urban Area Development Project, the North–South high-speed railway project passing through Thuong Tin Commune and the National Highway 1A spatial corridor project combined with urban renovation and redevelopment under the public–private partnership (PPP) model using a Build–Transfer (BT) contract.
Regarding craft village activities, Thuong Tin Commune has 11 craft villages with 1,820 households engaged in production and business, employing about 3,765 permanent workers and 1,000 seasonal workers.
Main products include blankets, bed sheets, pillows, mattresses, cotton and wool products, horn combs and other handicrafts. Prominent craft villages include the Trat Cau bedding village and the Thuy Ung horn comb craft village.
In recent years, craft village production has remained relatively stable and continues to play an important role in the local rural economy. Estimated revenue averages about VND560 million ($21,300) per year per establishment, while workers earn an average monthly income of about VND7–10 million ($266-380).
Hanoi Party Secretary Nguyen Duy Ngoc checks on the preparation for the upcoming national election in Thuong Tin Commune.
Some production facilities have invested in technological upgrades, improved product designs, diversified product lines and expanded markets, gradually building stronger brands and customer trust.
However, the biggest challenge facing craft villages is that most production activities still take place within residential areas, affecting production efficiency and posing potential risks related to environmental pollution, noise, electrical safety, internal traffic and fire prevention.
Election preparations implemented carefully and on schedule
Preparations for the election in Thuong Tin Commune have been carried out seriously, comprehensively and in accordance with legal regulations. Political security and social order remain stable and facilities for the election have been fully prepared.
The commune has established six election boards and 54 polling teams for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.

The Hanoi Party Secretary also directed Thuong Tin Commune to focus on implementing tasks and solutions to achieve socio-economic development targets, contributing to the city's goal of achieving economic growth of 11% or higher in 2026.
The commune should promote the development and branding of craft village products associated with job creation, increasing product value, expanding markets and training and converting workers' occupations.
This would gradually shift labor from low-productivity agricultural and handicraft work to more specialized employment, creating stable jobs in craft village industrial clusters and improving local incomes.
In addition, the commune should promote sustainable economic development linked with urbanization and digital transformation, strengthen urban infrastructure development, improve land management, protect the environment and build a rural landscape that is bright, green, clean and beautiful.
