Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Tran The Cuong presented the 80-year Party membership badge to veteran Party member Le Trong.
On February 12, a member of the Standing Board of the Hanoi Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Tran The Cuong presented the 80-year Party membership badge to veteran Party member Le Trong at his home in Tuong Mai Ward.
Le Trong, born in 1929, joined the Communist Party of Vietnam on February 2, 1948. He currently resides on Nguyen An Ninh Street, Tuong Mai Ward and is a member of Cell 5 under the Tuong Mai Ward Party Committee.
He is a pre-August Revolution cadre who was born and raised in the Ly Son Special Zone, Quang Ngai Province. From May 1 to September 1945, he served as political commissar of the Duong Sa guerrilla platoon.
Between 1945 and 1951, Trong actively engaged in revolutionary activities in his locality. In September 1951, French forces arrested and imprisoned him at Lang Co prison. In April 1952, he escaped and returned to Quang Ngai to continue revolutionary work.
In 1955, Trong regrouped to the North and worked as an inspection officer for the Inter-Region 4 Party Committee. During his career, he held several important positions, including teaching at the National Economics University from September 1962 to August 1995.
He retired in September 1995 and continued Party activities in his residential area.
The Party and State recognized his contributions with the Third-Class Resistance Order against the French, the Second-Class Resistance Order against the Americans and the Medal for the Cause of Education.
On behalf of city leaders, Tran The Cuong expressed deep respect for Le Trong's contributions to national construction and defense, dedicating his youth to the revolution from the anti-French resistance until peace was restored.
Representing the city government, Cuong congratulated the veteran on receiving the 80-year Party badge and stressed that it marks a great honor for him, his family and the locality. He called on ward leaders and neighborhood officials to continue promoting Le Trong's example of dedication to younger generations and to care for his family's well-being.
On the occasion of the 2026 Lunar New Year, the Standing Vice Chairman wished Le Trong and his family happiness and peace in the new year, encouraging them to continue spreading messages of wholehearted devotion within the community.
Moved by the honor, Le Trong thanked city leaders for recognizing his efforts and said this distinction represents the greatest pride of his life. Despite his advanced age and declining health, he affirmed that he will continue fulfilling his responsibilities as a Party member for the people and the nation.
