On February 5, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc received and worked with Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes.
The meeting was also attended by Standing Party Committee member and Hanoi People's Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Quyen.
Hanoi Party Secretary Ngoc expressed pleasure in welcoming Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes and recalled meaningful memories from accompanying Party General Secretary To Lam on a visit to Cuba in September 2024.
He emphasized that the visit held special significance, strengthening political trust and further deepening the faithful traditional relationship between the two Parties, States and peoples.

Commending recent Vietnam–Cuba cooperation results, Ngoc highlighted key bright spots in bilateral ties, including agricultural cooperation, especially rice cultivation, which supports food security and improves living standards for the Cuban people, serving as vivid proof of solidarity and mutual support during difficult times.
He affirmed that Hanoi always holds special affection for Cuba, demonstrated not only through words but also through practical actions, with the desire to help the Cuban people overcome challenges and achieve stability and sustainable development.
The Hanoi Party Secretary stressed that this precious traditional relationship must continue to be preserved, nurtured and developed amid complex global changes.
For his part, Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception and sincere sharing.

Impressed by Hanoi's rich history, the ambassador said it represents great cultural and spiritual value for humanity, especially historical values linked to national liberation and independence struggles, which Cuba deeply respects and views as a source of inspiration.
On this occasion, Ambassador Fuentes thanked the Hanoi Party Committee, authorities and people for consistently demonstrating solidarity, support and assistance to Cuba through many difficult periods, especially under prolonged embargoes.
He emphasized that this support provides precious encouragement and spiritual energy, helping Cuba steadfastly overcome challenges.
Referring to recent bilateral cooperation projects, the ambassador affirmed that they have contributed positively to strengthening the special Vietnam–Cuba relationship.
He expressed confidence that cooperation projects in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and other key science and technology fields will prove effective and make practical contributions to Vietnam's development goals as well as Hanoi's orientation of prioritizing science, technology and innovation as key drivers.
Sharing information about challenges facing Cuba, Ambassador Fuentes expressed appreciation for Vietnam's and Hanoi's continued support and companionship.
He affirmed that the Cuban Party and State will remain steadfast in overcoming all difficulties and continue building a stronger and more developed Cuba.
