Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh expressed his gratitude to UNESCO World Heritage Centre Director Lazare Eloundou Assomo and the technical departments of UNESCO for their continued support and dedication to the preservation and promotion of heritage in Vietnam in general and in Hanoi in particular.
Thanh expressed his hope that UNESCO, the World Heritage Centre, and especially Director Lazare Eloundou Assomo, would continue to accompany, guide, and support the capital city of Hanoi in the reconstruction of the Kinh Thien Palace and other relics within the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, as part of the broader effort to preserve and promote world heritage in Hanoi and across Vietnam. He affirmed that this is also an urgent and meaningful aspiration of the people of Hanoi and Vietnam as a whole.
At the same time, Thanh requested that UNESCO continue to support and advise on the dossier for the reconstruction of Kinh Thien Palace and its main space within the Thang Long Imperial Citadel World Heritage Site so that it can be approved by UNESCO as soon as possible.
The chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee emphasized that the restoration of the Royal Axis spanning thousands of years and the reconstruction of Kinh Thien Palace, a place where people from across the country can perform traditional rituals, reenact national history, awaken centuries-old unifying strength, and foster community cohesion in the nation's new era - is a matter of national significance for Vietnam.
Regarding the Co Loa Relic Site, Thanh stated that Hanoi is currently preparing a dossier to nominate it for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List. He requested Lazare Eloundou Assomo's support in facilitating the necessary procedures.

Thanking and expressing support for the aspirations of the city's leadership, Lazare Eloundou Assomo affirmed that UNESCO will closely coordinate, accompany, support, and provide the necessary technical advice in the work of preserving and promoting world heritage sites.
Highly appreciating Hanoi's commitment to the preservation and reconstruction of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Director Lazare Eloundou Assomo emphasized that this site is not only of great significance to Hanoi and Vietnam but also an important heritage of humanity.
The Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre also noted that the organization is ready to assist Vietnam and Hanoi in the conservation of the Co Loa Relic Site. He proposed that the city develop a regulatory framework for the management of the Co Loa site, with the participation of relevant stakeholders, and promptly assess the tourism pressure on the site in order to implement suitable conservation solutions.
Lazare Eloundou Assomo also thanked the Hanoi authorities for their support of UNESCO agencies in recent times. On this occasion, he respectfully invited Chairman Tran Sy Thanh to visit the headquarters of the World Heritage Centre in Paris, France. The chairman expressed his thanks and said he would arrange a visit at an appropriate time.
