On May 10, Party Central Committee member, Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Dai Thang received a delegation from Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, led by Governor Nagasaki Kotaro, to discuss areas of mutual cooperation.
At the meeting, Thang expressed his pleasure that Vietnam-Japan relations have continued to strengthen and expand across all fields in recent years.
He said that the Yamanashi delegation's visit would open new opportunities for cooperation in urban development, cultural exchange and people-to-people relations.
Affirming that both localities possess long-standing cultural heritage foundations, Chairman Vu Dai Thang proposed that the two sides strengthen cooperation in tourism and cultural exchange, while creating favorable conditions to encourage mutual tourist visits, building on the flourishing tourism partnership between Vietnam and Japan.
Sharing Hanoi's development priorities in the coming years, Thang said the city is preparing to establish low-emission zones while moving toward energy transition.
The city is also encouraging the use of electric vehicles to reduce emissions and advance smart, sustainable urban development. He noted that this is another promising field for expanded cooperation between the two sides.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee also proposed that both sides strengthen student exchange programs and high-quality workforce training, while creating favorable conditions for student exchanges and fostering engagement among younger generations to deepen friendship and mutual understanding.
Expressing appreciation for the warm reception from Hanoi's leadership, Governor Nagasaki Kotaro said the purpose of the delegation's visit was to deepen cooperative relations between Yamanashi Prefecture and Hanoi while promoting exchanges and sharing development experiences.
Agreeing with proposals from Hanoi leaders, Governor Nagasaki Kotaro affirmed that Yamanashi is one of Japan's leading localities in green transition and also possesses strong potential in cultural, heritage and tourism development.
He stated that Yamanashi is ready to share experience with Hanoi in these areas, especially hydrogen technology, one of the alternative energy technologies the prefecture is applying to promote sustainable development.
The governor also expressed hope that Hanoi leaders would continue creating favorable conditions for younger generations from both sides to strengthen exchanges and training opportunities while promoting friendship and mutual understanding.
During the meeting, both sides actively discussed and agreed to continue exchanging delegations at different levels to study experiences and methods for applying green technologies to urban transportation development.
Based on the increasingly strong friendship and strategic cooperation between the two localities, leaders of Hanoi and Yamanashi expressed confidence that new, practical and more effective cooperation opportunities would continue to emerge in the future, further strengthening Vietnam-Japan relations and elevating bilateral ties to new heights.
