The activity was held in response to the 2026 Action Month for Children and reflected Hanoi's continued attention to social welfare and healthcare services for disadvantaged children and people with disabilities.

Attending the program were Vu Thu Ha, member of the Hanoi Party Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee; Dinh Hong Phong, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health; representatives from the Social Protection Division, the Sub-department of Population, Children and Social Evils Prevention and Control, the Hanoi Social Work Center and Children's Fund; leaders of hospitals, social protection centers, sponsors, and many children and people with disabilities receiving care at social welfare facilities.
As part of the program, delegates visited the medical examination area and met with children and people with disabilities being cared for at the Hanoi Center for the Care of People With Disabilities. Gifts were also presented to encourage the children and residents during the 2026 Action Month for Children.

Speaking at the event, leaders of the Hanoi Center for the Care of People With Disabilities said the center was established on September 2, 1966 and has undergone several organizational restructurings and name changes over the years.
The center is currently responsible for receiving, managing, caring for, and supporting people with disabilities who have no family support or are unable to care for themselves, people with disabilities requiring urgent protection, and children with disabilities who lack caregivers.
The center currently has 119 staff members and employees directly caring for 318 people with disabilities and children with disabilities. Most of those admitted are individuals with severe disabilities and children who have lost their families or do not have relatives able to care for them.
With a strong sense of responsibility and compassion, the center's staff members remain dedicated to providing daily care and support for residents.
Leaders of the center added that, under plans issued by the Hanoi People's Committee and the Hanoi Department of Health for the 2026 Action Month for Children, the center has organized a range of practical activities, including cultural and artistic programs and recreational events for children and people with disabilities. The center also organized visits to K9 historical site to help improve the mental and emotional well-being of residents.

Speaking at the event, Dinh Hong Phong, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health, emphasized that healthcare examinations and support activities for children and people with disabilities at social protection centers not only have medical significance but also demonstrate the city's responsibility and care for vulnerable groups.
According to Phong, through the program, Hanoi's health sector hopes to improve healthcare quality for children and people with disabilities, detect illnesses early for timely treatment and rehabilitation, and spread the spirit of compassion while encouraging participation from authorities, organizations, and the broader community in protecting and caring for children and people with disabilities.

Phong also noted that the event was part of a broader series of activities organized by the Hanoi Department of Health in response to the 2026 Action Month for Children under the direction of the Hanoi People's Committee.
In addition to healthcare examinations for children and people with disabilities at social welfare facilities, the health sector is also organizing humanitarian medical programs for children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, congenital heart disease screening programs, and communications campaigns on digital platforms to raise awareness about child care and protection.

According to the center's leadership, the healthcare and medical support program provided not only practical medical benefits but also significant emotional encouragement for staff members and residents being cared for at the facility.
