Shifting from treatment to prevention
In her opening remarks, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan emphasized that over the past decades, the Party and the State have consistently identified public health protection and care as a top priority. Investment in health is an investment in sustainable development, forming a key foundation for economic growth, social security, and national defense and security.
To realize these orientations, the health sector is implementing a range of coordinated and breakthrough measures. These include promoting lifelong electronic health records for all citizens, strengthening grassroots healthcare networks as the "gatekeepers" of primary care, and gradually implementing periodic health check-ups and free screening programs, creating opportunities for early disease detection and reducing treatment burdens.
Lan stressed that building a healthy nation is not solely the responsibility of the health sector, but requires the participation of the entire society. Each citizen needs to actively exercise, adopt scientific nutrition, and pursue healthier lifestyles.
