According to the plan, the event is expected to take place on the morning of June 6 or June 7, 2026, at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square in Hoan Kiem Ward, with around 6,000 professional and amateur runners participating.
The activities are intended to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and Vietnam's National Day for Drug Prevention and Control on June 26. The program aims to promote community participation in drug prevention efforts while encouraging people, especially young people, to adopt healthy and active lifestyles and stay away from crime and social evils.
The event will also incorporate public awareness activities on drug prevention laws, methods for identifying narcotics and drugs disguised in foods, beverages, cigarettes, and e-cigarettes, as well as information on prevention measures and tactics used by drug-related criminals.
This year's community race will include 2-kilometer, 5-kilometer, and 10-kilometer distances for various participant groups, including high school students, university students, volunteers from social work teams, village and residential community representatives, senior participants over 60 years old, and male and female runners.
Participants registering for the race will also join an online competition on the 2025 Law on Drug Prevention and Control through the electronic registration system.
The rally and art performance program will include musical performances and artistic activities focused on anti-drug awareness, a flag-raising ceremony, opening remarks, speeches supporting the 2026 Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control, and a launch ceremony for the running event.
Youth representatives and participating runners will also deliver messages supporting the campaign theme "Hanoi - United in Building Drug-Free Communes and Wards."
The program will conclude with the official race start, warm-up activities, team lineup arrangements for runners, an awards ceremony, and the closing event.
The Hanoi People's Committee assigned the Hanoi Department of Public Security to prepare conditions for organizing the rally in response to the International Day and National Day for Drug Prevention and Control on June 26, 2026.
The Department of Public Security will also help city authorities establish the race organizing committee, draft race regulations, and develop questions for the online competition on the 2025 Law on Drug Prevention and Combat.
In coordination with event organizers and related units, Hanoi police will survey and finalize race routes, select venues for opening and closing ceremonies, mobilize runners across the city, and ensure the event is conducted professionally and effectively for communication purposes.
The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports will issue permits for the event and coordinate communication campaigns through the Hanoi electronic information portal and other media channels.
The department will also work with Hanoi police to guide related agencies and organizations in displaying banners promoting the 2026 Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control and the running event.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training will coordinate the participation of youth union members and high school students as volunteers and runners.
Commune- and ward-level authorities are tasked with organizing local communication campaigns, encouraging residents, students, and local communities to actively participate in the event and support the citywide movement promoting drug-free communities.
