The plan aims to strengthen information and communication efforts to raise awareness and responsibility among all levels, sectors, organizations, and individuals regarding environmental protection and proactive climate change response. It seeks to improve the quality of life for citizens and move toward the sustainable development of the capital.
The plan will effectively implement the 2020 Law on Environmental Protection throughout the city. It includes timely promotion of collectives, individuals, models, exemplary practices, and experiences in protecting air, water, noise, and waste; proposing environmentally friendly solutions, technologies, and products; analyzing the current situation and offering effective solutions to ensure a healthy urban environment. The program also aims to mobilize the participation of all citizens, units, businesses, and organizations in environmental protection.
Program Content
1. Organize a writing contest on environmental protection in Hanoi: Eligible participants include Vietnamese citizens residing domestically and abroad, and foreigners living, studying, or working in Vietnam. The contest will feature advanced models, technical innovations, and new ideas or solutions for environmental protection. The contest will run from June 2025 to December 2025.
2. Organize communication events on environmental protection across the city: Activities will include awareness campaigns in schools and residential areas about the risks of climate change and the responsibility to protect the environment; seminars and discussions on environmental protection efforts; collaboration with organizations and individuals to carry out specific campaigns and activities in polluted areas; and participation in movements to build urban and residential areas that are bright, green, clean, and beautiful in all districts and towns. The events will be held from June 2025 to December 2025.
The Hanoi People's Committee assigns the Urban & Economic Newspaper as the lead agency to coordinate with departments, agencies, districts, towns, and related units in organizing the program. The newspaper is responsible for developing implementation plans and programs; issuing the contest rules; forming a Secretariat and Judging Panel; receiving contest entries; selecting submissions to be regularly published and maintaining an environmental protection section in both print and online editions. It will organize preliminary and final rounds of judging, and coordinate with organizations and individuals to hold communication events, seminars, discussions, campaigns, and specific activities on environmental protection. A closing and award ceremony will also be organized.
The Hanoi People's Committee requires that collectives, individuals, experiences, models, and initiatives featured or promoted must be exemplary and widely influential in environmental protection. These should help raise public awareness and behavior toward the environment in the capital, encourage individuals, families, agencies, and organizations to take the initiative in protecting the environment, and promote a civilized and responsible lifestyle. This lays a solid foundation for sustainable development and community health protection, while also criticizing violations of environmental protection laws in Hanoi and proposing appropriate and effective solutions. All activities under the communication program must be suited to actual conditions, ensuring practicality, effectiveness, and cost-efficiency.
