Hanoi will host a grand art program at the Hanoi Opera House on October 24 to celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (December 2, 1960 – December 2, 2025), reaffirming the historic bond of friendship and solidarity between the two nations.
The celebration, to be broadcast live on Hanoi Radio and Television from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., is co-organized by the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Vietnam.
It forms part of the “Vietnam–Cuba Friendship Year 2025” and responds to the “65 Days of Solidarity with the Cuban People” campaign launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen signed Official Dispatch No. 5405/UBND-KGVX on October 2 directing the organization of the event.
The initiative is part of the city’s implementation of Directive No. 45-CT/TU of the Hanoi Party Standing Committee on strengthening people-to-people diplomacy through 2030, with a vision toward 2045.
It also aligns with the cooperation agreement between the Hanoi and Havana Party Committees signed in June 2023 and Plan No. 175/KH-TƯHCTĐ of the Vietnam Red Cross Society supporting the Cuban people.
The Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations will take full responsibility for coordinating the event, including program content, script, and logistics, while ensuring compliance with municipal regulations.
It will collaborate with the Cuban Embassy to invite the Cuban Ambassador to speak, facilitate the participation of Cuban delegates, and feature two to three cultural performances from Cuban artists.
The union will also prepare a welcome speech for city leaders, arrange bilingual Vietnamese–Spanish hosts, manage decorations and floral gifts, and design the event’s overall visual identity—from the backdrop and invitations to check-in panels and standees.
In cooperation with the City People’s Committee Office and the Hanoi Red Cross, the union will send invitations, arrange seating plans, and coordinate the reception of central, municipal, and Cuban representatives.
The Hanoi Red Cross will organize an exhibition area in the Opera House lobby, lead fundraising efforts for the Cuban people, and confirm delegate attendance.
The Department of Culture and Sports will select a professional art unit to stage the performance and guide communication and promotional activities. Meanwhile, Hanoi Radio and Television will air promotional trailers ahead of the event, provide live coverage, and broadcast post-event reports across its platforms.
To ensure public order and safety, the Hanoi Police Department and the Capital Command will be in charge of security, crowd control, and traffic management.
The People’s Committee of Cua Nam Ward will coordinate with relevant agencies to arrange parking areas, manage waste collection, and maintain environmental sanitation before, during, and after the event.
The ward will also inspect urban infrastructure and local landscapes to ensure a clean and welcoming environment for delegates and visitors.
The Hanoi People’s Committee has asked the Hanoi Opera House to ensure full technical support—including power supply, lighting, air conditioning, sanitation, and fire safety—and to work closely with police and other agencies to maintain security throughout the program.
The event is expected to be one of the highlights of the Vietnam–Cuba Friendship Year 2025, celebrating six and a half decades of enduring partnership and solidarity between the two countries, while showcasing Hanoi’s growing role as a hub of international friendship and cultural exchange.
