The Hanoi People’s Committee has issued Notice No. 1637/TB-UBND, dated December 27, 2025, on rearranging working days for the 2026 New Year holiday applicable to officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers in state agencies, public service units, and enterprises.
Accordingly, officials and employees of Hanoi's administrative agencies and public service units will swap the working day of Friday, January 2, 2026, with that of Saturday, January 10, 2026.
As a result, public employees will enjoy four consecutive days off, from Thursday, January 1, 2026, through Sunday, January 4, 2026, and will make up for the working day on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
Agencies and units applying this schedule must arrange staffing appropriately to ensure uninterrupted public services, especially by assigning on-duty staff to handle unexpected or urgent matters.
Units that do not follow a fixed Saturday–Sunday weekend schedule should arrange New Year holidays based on their operational plans in accordance with the law.
Departments, sectors, and local authorities should develop suitable measures within their mandates to encourage organizations, businesses, and individuals to maintain production, stabilize supply and demand, control prices, promote economic growth, and practice thrift before, during, and after the holiday.
The city encourages employers to apply the same New Year holiday schedule to their workers, while ensuring full compliance with labor regulations and promoting more favorable agreements for employees.
Directors of departments, heads of agencies, chairpersons of commune- and ward-level People’s Committees, and employers must implement Notice No. 12590/TB-BNV, dated December 25, 2025, issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
