The event is scheduled to take place over four days, from October 1 to 4, 2026. The opening ceremony will be held at 8:00 p.m. on October 2 in the courtyard of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports at 47 Hang Dau Street, Hoan Kiem Ward.
Book exhibition spaces and stalls will be arranged along Dinh Tien Hoang Street, from Hang Khay Street to Ngoc Son Temple.
This year's book fair will focus on themed displays and exhibitions featuring publications and materials on Thang Long – Hanoi culture, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation.
Visitors will be introduced to and guided through digital collections such as the Thang Long Thousand Years of Civilization e-bookshelf and the Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam e-bookshelf. The aim is to promote Hanoi's long-standing cultural and academic traditions while highlighting digital transformation in publishing.
Dedicated areas will showcase electronic publications, including e-books, audiobooks and multimedia titles. Readers will be able to experience digital reading platforms on electronic devices.
The fair will also feature books from foreign publishers as well as cultural products presented by several foreign diplomatic missions in Hanoi.
Around 50 domestic and international publishers and distribution companies are expected to participate, with an estimated 250 to 300 standard booths. The program will include book launches, author talks, copyright exchange activities and various cultural experiences.
Readers will also receive guidance on registering for online library cards during the fair. Additional cultural exchange programs and side events are planned throughout the four-day event.
Under the plan, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports will serve as the standing agency, leading and coordinating with relevant departments and units to ensure the fair is organized in line with approved content, quality standards and timelines.
The department will review and approve all design concepts, themes, communication materials, publications and discussion programs proposed by participating publishers. It will also coordinate with central and local media agencies and grassroots information systems to promote the event and reading culture. Visual promotion activities, including banners and LED screens, will be deployed on major streets in accordance with approved designs.
The Department of Construction, in coordination with Hanoi Police and the Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee, will ensure traffic order and safety. It will arrange parking areas for delegates and visitors and, if necessary, implement temporary traffic diversion plans in the streets surrounding the event area.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training will promote the book fair across the city's school system and organize exchange activities for students at the event.
The Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee will coordinate with relevant departments to ensure environmental sanitation, security and order, fire prevention and adequate power supply for activities held in the Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian area and other book fair venues.
Hanoi Publishing House Co., Ltd. will lead the organization of themed book exhibitions, in coordination with related units. Participating publishers and distributors will display and introduce both printed and electronic publications and organize book talks and discussions in compliance with regulations.
The Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations will invite selected foreign diplomatic missions in Hanoi, particularly from Southeast Asian countries, to take part in exhibitions and cultural exchanges. It will also coordinate and support activities involving international organizations participating in the fair.
