Chairwoman of the Hanoi Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Lan Huong on February 21 met with nearly 100 representatives, including artists, intellectuals, religious dignitaries, and overseas Vietnamese.

Huong summarized Hanoi's key achievements in economic and social development in 2024. Despite many challenges, Hanoi made strong efforts to boost economic growth.

The city's budget revenue exceeded VND500 trillion (US$19.6 billion) for the first time, the highest ever. Hanoi also led in digital transformation and cultural industry development, helping to promote tourism.

The city completed major strategic projects, including the revised Capital Law, the Hanoi Master Plan for 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050, and adjustments to the Hanoi General Plan for 2045, with a vision to 2065, approved by the Prime Minister.

"These are important foundations for Hanoi to continue its development, following the Party's and General Secretary To Lam's vision of the new era of national growth," she said.

The Hanoi Fatherland Front played a key role in uniting the people, launching important movements, and ensuring effective social supervision and feedback, she added.

It successfully organized the 2024-2029 Congress with innovative ideas, mobilized resources to support social welfare programs, and provided aid to disaster-affected people, such as those impacted by Typhoon No. 3. These efforts strengthened public trust, Huong said.

Artists, intellectuals, religious dignitaries, and overseas Vietnamese contributed significantly to promoting national solidarity, preserving Hanoi's cultural traditions, and fostering patriotism, she said.

They also helped maintain social stability and build Hanoi as a "City for Peace", and actively participated in social supervision, policy consultation, and government feedback, the chairwoman said.

Overseas Vietnamese deeply integrated into their host countries while staying connected to their homeland. Many engaged in charitable activities, supported the Fatherland Front's initiatives, and contributed to Hanoi's and Vietnam's development, she said.

On behalf of the Hanoi Fatherland Front, Huong expressed gratitude for their contributions.

She emphasized that 2025 would bring greater challenges, and called for continued efforts in strengthening national unity.

She urged intellectuals to take part in patriotic movements, social supervision, and policy advocacy, as well as to encourage public support for government policies.

Huong also encouraged everyone to spread their love for Hanoi, promote its identity as a "Creative City" and "City for Peace," and preserve its thousand-year cultural heritage.

"Cultural and human resources must become new driving forces for Hanoi's prosperity, happiness, and sustainable development," she said.

As part of the program, delegates offered incense and flowers at the King Ly Thai To Statue, visited Ngoc Son Temple, and paid tribute at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the Bac Son Martyrs Monument.
