Capital to go greener with 554,000 new trees

VGP – Ha Noi has planned to grow 554,000 new trees in 2021, looking toward realizing the PM's initiative of planting 1 billion trees in 2021-25, according to the municipal Department of Construction.
The new trees will be planted at historical and cultural relics, new urban buildings, public works, schools, hospitals, parks and along roads.
The municipal People's Committee tasked the Ha
Noi
Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to find capable suppliers of seedlings and technical materials so they will ensure suitable varieties of trees would be grown and the quality planting and tending techniques be used.
Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Construction Hoang Cao

said that in 2021, the city will focus on pruning, selecting trees varieties in accordance with environmental functions and urban aesthetic requirements.
In the first quarter of 2021, 23,850 trees were planted. In 2019-2020, another 600,000 trees were grown
