Hanoi students and teachers received awards for the performances at the contests held in 2025.
On December 11, at the Special National Monument Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam (the Temple of Literature), the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a meeting to encourage the city's excellent student teams preparing for the 2025–2026 national selection exam.
Attending the event was Tran The Cuong, Member of the Hanoi Party Standing Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council.
Commending and congratulating the students selected for the national-level exam, Cuong highlighted the outstanding achievements Hanoi's students have recorded over many years.
He noted that Hanoi has consistently led the country in both the number and quality of awards at the national excellent student exam, especially with a growing number of first prizes, affirming the capital's leading position in high-quality education.
The results achieved by Hanoi's students have created strong motivation and helped energize the "good teaching, good learning" movement, with wide-reaching influence across all education levels and disciplines, while reinforcing the role and standing of the capital's education sector.

Among the 247 students in this year's city teams are many from schools with a long tradition and strong track records in selecting and training national-level excellent students.
The teams also include students from public and private high schools. Although some of these schools have lower entrance scores, they still produce outstanding students selected for the teams. Cuong said this is especially worthy of recognition and pride.
Addressing the students ahead of their departure, he urged them to continue strengthening their knowledge and skills, maintain strong determination, take good care of their health, and strive for the best possible results in the exam.
Cuong also asked teachers and parents to create the most favorable conditions so students can maintain good health and a positive mindset before the competition.

According to the plan, the national excellent student selection exam for the 2025–2026 academic year, organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, will take place on December 25 and 26, 2025, with more than 6,700 students nationwide.
For this exam, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training selected and formed teams in 13 subjects with 247 students, including 140 grade-12 students, 104 grade-11 students, and three grade-10 students, ensuring continuity, development, and long-term depth in training.
The students come from eight high schools across the city. Specialized schools continue to play a core role, accounting for more than 95% of total participants.
At the same time, the increasingly active participation of several non-public schools shows that the movement to train excellent students is spreading more evenly throughout Hanoi's secondary education system.
Hanoi's students will compete in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, informatics, literature, history, geography, English, French, Russian, Chinese, and Japanese.
Training has taken place intensively since October 16, 2025, at Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. So far, the teams have completed about 92% of the planned 1,743 training sessions, including 385 advanced sessions directly guided by professors, doctors, and leading experts.
Local students attend the event.
The teams aim to win more than 200 awards at the 2025–2026 national excellent student selection exam.
At the meeting, city leaders and the Hanoi education sector also honored and rewarded students and teachers who won medals at national and international competitions in the 2024–2025 academic year.
These rewards were provided under Resolution No. 40/2024/NQ-HDND dated December 10, 2024, of the Hanoi People's Council, with total funding exceeding VND22 billion (US$836,300).
