The introduction of the waste sorting model in Tu Thuan Village, Chuyen My Commune.
On April 20, the People's Committee of Chuyen My Commune held a ceremony to launch a household waste sorting model in Tu Thuan Village, marking an important step in local environmental protection efforts. The initiative aims to raise public awareness of waste separation and treatment, contributing to a greener, cleaner and more beautiful living environment.
At the event, representatives of the commune People's Committee presented a pilot plan for sorting household solid waste at the source.
More than 200 households in Tu Thuan Village will participate in the program. Each household will receive two types of bags to separate waste at home, including organic and inorganic waste.
This practical solution is expected to reduce pressure on centralized waste collection and treatment systems while improving the reuse and biological processing of recyclable materials. To ensure effective implementation, households were provided with detailed instructional materials on waste classification.
Guidelines include identifying waste types, using appropriate containers and following proper procedures for collection, transfer and transportation. Residents were also instructed on handling common industrial waste generated in daily life to ensure compliance with regulations and environmental safety.
To support initial implementation, local authorities provided Tu Thuan Village with 250 kilograms of waste sorting bags and 30 kilograms of biological products. These materials will help households process organic waste on-site, reduce odors and accelerate natural decomposition. This support not only facilitates participation but also reflects the local government's commitment to implementing the model.
According to the plan, the pilot program will run through the end of June 2026.
After the pilot phase, the commune People's Committee will conduct a review to assess effectiveness, draw lessons and consider expanding the model across the entire commune. The initiative is expected to lay the foundation for building long-term waste sorting habits within the community.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairwoman of the Chuyen My Commune People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thuy Huong emphasized the role of specialized agencies in monitoring and supporting theg implementation.

Implementing waste sorting at the source not only improves environmental conditions but also enhances public awareness and responsibility. This is a necessary step aligned with sustainable development trends, aiming toward a more civilized and environmentally friendly lifestyle.
