The finals, closing ceremony, and award presentations of the 4th Phung Hung Cup National Traditional Wrestling Tournament took place at the Son Tay Town Cultural and Sports Center on May 27.
The tournament was jointly organized by the Son Tay Town People's Committee, the Vietnam Wrestling Federation, and the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports.
According to Le Dai Thang, Deputy Chairman of the Son Tay Town People's Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee, the tournament attracted nearly 130 athletes from 17 teams representing provinces, cities, and sectors with strong wrestling traditions nationwide.
Male wrestlers competed in seven weight categories, including the prestigious over-100kg championship bout. There was also a demonstration of women's traditional wrestling in four weight classes.
With a spirit of fair play, skillful techniques, and thrilling wrestling moves, the athletes delivered a captivating display of traditional wrestling.
The event showcased the strength, charm, and artistry of Vietnam's traditional wrestling techniques, fully engaging the audience.
At the closing and award ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded the championship trophy and the overall first prize to the Hanoi team.
The Tam Duong team finished second overall, while the Son Tay team claimed third place.
Gold, silver, and bronze medals were also presented to individual wrestlers in each weight category.
After three exciting days of competition on May 23, May 26 and May 27, featuring more than 200 matches, the 4th Phung Hung Cup National Traditional Wrestling Tournament concluded successfully.
The tournament contributed to promoting a healthy cultural and sports lifestyle and helped foster a widespread movement for physical training and sports among the public.
It also provided an opportunity to meet the cultural and sports needs of the people, creating a lively and celebratory atmosphere that promoted patriotism and national pride in the cause of building and defending the nation.
