At the meeting, the two sides discussed Hanoi's recent development and shared views on cooperation priorities proposed by the Japanese side.

Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Dai Thang and Sasaki Hajime, Vice Minister of Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
Chairman Thang said Hanoi is entering a period of strong growth alongside the country and is striving to achieve double-digit economic expansion. He noted that the city's focus is on building integrated and modern infrastructure, developing human resources with an emphasis on high-quality talent and improving institutional frameworks to support development.
According to the Chairman, as the nation's capital and a key driver of national growth, Hanoi aims for growth targets higher than the national average. Science and technology and digital transformation are expected to play a central role.
He added that recently approved special mechanisms will provide an important foundation for the city to accelerate progress and achieve its goals.
In this context, Thang said major projects across the city will be implemented quickly and efficiently to enable early deployment and operation. He expressed his hope that Japan, building on the long-standing ties between the two countries, will continue to accompany Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular in the coming period.
Appreciating the city leadership's views and Hanoi's determination to develop, Sasaki Hajime expressed confidence that these efforts will succeed. He affirmed that Japan will continue to participate in investment projects in the city and said this cooperation could become a symbol of a new phase in Vietnam–Japan relations.
