The Hanoi Police Department on July 7 held its monthly national flag-raising ceremony for July 2025 at the Flag Tower Square within the Thang Long Imperial Citadel.

The event was also a political gathering to mark the upcoming 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Public Security Forces (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2025) and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for All People to Protect National Security (August 19, 2005 – August 19, 2025).

Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, member of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee and Director of the Hanoi Police Department, presided over the ceremony.

More than 1,600 officers from local units, functional departments, and grassroots security forces attended the event.

The flag-raising ceremony served as a source of motivation for officers to strive for excellence, uphold discipline, and strengthen their political courage, sense of responsibility, and revolutionary ethics in performing assigned duties.

On behalf of the Party Committee and the leadership board of the Hanoi Police Department, Deputy Director Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Quyen, announced a citywide emulation movement focused on 13 thematic areas.

He called on unit heads and deputies to develop concrete action plans based on their unit's functions, tasks, and actual conditions to ensure the movement is practical and effective.

The director also urged all officers to remain united, overcome challenges, and be proactive and innovative in order to fulfill their duties with excellence.

Their collective efforts will help safeguard national security and public order, contributing to Hanoi's and the country's socio-economic development while honoring the heroic tradition of the capital's police force, Quyen said.

On this occasion, the department presented certificates of merit from the Hanoi People's Committee to seven collectives and 18 individuals in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the emulation movement.

Following the flag-raising ceremony, senior leaders and officers participated in a political session, offering ceremonial writings at the dragon steps in front of Kinh Thien Palace and incense at the shrine dedicated to 52 imperial ancestors.
