After hearing reports from Hanoi Police and local authorities of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam Ward, Chairman Thanh instructed relevant agencies to promptly handle the aftermath of the incident. He also requested an urgent investigation to determine the cause of the fire and ensure that all findings and actions comply with legal regulations.
Expressing condolences to the victims' families, the Chairman directed relevant departments and local units to visit, console and provide both financial and emotional support to those affected, in line with current regulations.

The Chairman also emphasized the importance of ensuring clear and accessible escape routes, equipping all residential areas with sufficient fire prevention tools and on-site response forces, following the "four-on-the-spot" principle—local command, local forces, local materials, and local logistics.
He further requested that relevant agencies study urban planning solutions for narrow alleys and enhance public awareness on fire prevention and safety measures.

According to Hanoi Police, the fire resulted in five fatalities: N.D.L (born 1952), H.T.H (born 1956), N.H.M (born 1982), D.T.S (born 1988), and N.M.V (born 2019).
The fire occurred in a four-story house with an additional rooftop room, covering about 25 square meters and located in a narrow alley approximately 300 meters from the main road. Dense smoke and toxic gases made firefighting and rescue operations extremely difficult.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire in accordance with legal procedures.
