Nguyen Lan Huong, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, presents supplies for people of Tay Mo Ward.
Nguyen Lan Huong, Standing Member of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, on October 10 visited and presented gifts to families affected by flooding caused by recent storms in Tay Mo Ward.
Immediately after the Tay Mo Ward Fatherland Front proposed support for flood-affected households, the Hanoi Fatherland Front decided to provide gifts to 480 affected families in the ward.
At the community house of Doc Residential Group, the chairwoman presented gifts to 10 heavily affected households, including families with difficult circumstances and those under social policy support.
She expressed her sympathy and encouraged residents who had suffered from the two typhoons Bualoi and Matmo.
After hearing reports from local authorities about the flooding, Huong praised the efforts of residents in overcoming difficulties. She noted that although floodwaters were receding, daily life remained disrupted.
She expressed hope that local people would soon stabilize their lives and urged local authorities to restore urban areas to be cleaner, greener, brighter and more civilized.
The chairwoman emphasized that disaster recovery is the shared responsibility of the city, authorities and all sectors. She said the Fatherland Front always shows care for people, especially those in hardship.
She also mentioned that some areas of Hanoi, such as Da Phuc and Trung Gia communes, were still severely affected and many provinces nationwide were also facing difficulties. Despite these challenges, Hanoi continued to share its compassion with other localities in overcoming disaster consequences.
According to her, for the Fatherland Front, one heartfelt command is to ensure that no household in Hanoi is isolated or left without food during storms and floods.
The remaining 470 gift packages were assigned to the Tay Mo Ward Fatherland Front for delivery to other affected families as soon as possible.
Receiving the support, Nguyen Thi Dau from Doc Residential Group said her family's life has been completely disrupted, with many belongings damaged after days under floodwater.
She expressed heartfelt thanks to the city's Fatherland Front and the Tay Mo Ward Fatherland Front for their meaningful support, saying it brings comfort and strengthened public trust in the leadership of the Party, the State and the city.
A representative of Tay Mo Ward said that heavy rains from the two typhoons have overloaded the drainage system, flooding residential areas and severely affecting local life, schooling and work. Around 480 households with about 1,500 people were heavily impacted.
