Attending the ceremony was Vu Thu Ha, a member of the Hanoi Party Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee.
Representatives from central ministries and agencies included leaders from units under the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Training, along with city departments and agencies.
The event also welcomed representatives of diplomatic missions, professional associations, training institutions, hospitals and domestic and international partner enterprises.
From the Hanoi Medical College, attendees included Dr. Pham Van Tan, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the college, members of the Board of Management, generations of leaders, faculty members, staff, employees and a large number of students across different periods.
Sixty years of tradition shaping the future
In his commemorative speech, Dr. Pham Van Tan said the Hanoi Medical College was established 60 years ago at a time when the country faced immense hardship, with all resources devoted to the resistance war.
The school began with simple thatched classrooms and modest facilities, yet it carried a noble mission: to train healthcare professionals with strong expertise, solid medical ethics and dedication to serving the people and the nation.
Over six decades of development, regardless of circumstances, generations of teachers and students have upheld unity, overcome challenges and continuously innovated to fulfill assigned tasks. From humble beginnings with limited staff, the college has grown significantly in scale, training quality and social reputation.
According to Tan, the college currently offers eight training programs: Nursing, Pharmacy, Midwifery, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, Rehabilitation Techniques, General Medicine and Beauty Care, with more than 8,000 students enrolled.
Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha speaks at the event.
The faculty has been increasingly standardized, with a growing proportion of postgraduate-qualified lecturers who possess practical experience and strong dedication to education.
International cooperation has achieved notable results, with numerous memoranda of understanding and training partnerships established, creating more overseas career opportunities for graduates. Career counseling has also improved, with over 95% of graduates securing employment.
Scientific research, innovation and professional collaboration have been strengthened, with many research projects and teaching initiatives effectively applied in practice, contributing to improved training quality and community healthcare.
Since 2023, the college has completed external accreditation of the institution and seven training programs, further affirming its credibility.
One of the most notable achievements is curriculum development and textbook compilation.
All programs have been aligned with competency-based standards, meeting the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework and sector requirements.
A total of 165 textbooks across eight programs have been published, achieving full coverage.
The college has also promoted digital transformation in learning resources through electronic libraries, digital lectures, e-textbooks and simulation-based materials, enhancing teaching quality and student learning experiences.
These achievements have significantly contributed to quality accreditation outcomes and strengthened the college's reputation in high-quality medical training.
Entering a new development phase, Tan emphasized that the college will continue comprehensive reform in training, improve curriculum quality and modernize teaching methods.
The school will strengthen ties with healthcare institutions and prioritize medical ethics, professional skills and professional conduct as strategic priorities.
He noted that 2026 marks the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, presenting both opportunities and challenges.
The college will focus on long-term development strategies, enhance training quality aligned with professional standards, accelerate digital transformation in management and teaching, expand domestic and international cooperation and gradually establish itself as a reputable training institution, aiming to develop into the Hanoi University of Health Sciences in the future.
Continuing innovation to improve healthcare workforce training quality
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha emphasized that over 60 years, the Hanoi Medical College has trained tens of thousands of healthcare professionals with strong expertise and ethics, contributing significantly to public health protection.
The Hanoi Medical College receives the certificate of merit from Vice Chairwoman Vu Thu Ha.
She highlighted that Hanoi is implementing major development orientations based on Politburo resolutions on the capital's development to 2030 with a vision to 2045, along with policies on science, technology, education and healthcare.
She affirmed that the Hanoi Medical College must continue to serve as a high-quality training institution, contributing to building a modern, specialized and internationally integrated healthcare system.
To meet new development requirements, she proposed several key tasks.
First, the college should develop into a modern, specialized training institution in disease prevention, treatment and healthcare, playing a core role in achieving public health and population goals for the capital and the nation.
It should strengthen scientific research and apply advanced technologies, particularly in priority areas such as smart healthcare.
Second, in response to the capital's increasing demand for high-quality human resources, the college should consider expanding into new training fields.
Third, the college should build strong professional connections with healthcare facilities at all levels, integrate theoretical training with practical experience and support local health stations in conducting public health checkups, disease surveillance, primary healthcare and management of non-communicable diseases.
Ha emphasized that this is an important opportunity for the college to leverage its strengths, focus investment and meet the growing demands of the healthcare sector and society.
On behalf of city leaders, she commended and congratulated the achievements of generations of teachers and students over the past 60 years.
She expressed confidence that with its tradition of unity, innovation and development, the Hanoi Medical College will continue to affirm its position as a reputable training institution, contributing to public health and the development of the capital and the country.
