Hanoi voters approve Ngoc Hoi Bridge project.
The Hanoi People's Council on April 29 approved the investment policy for the Ngoc Hoi Bridge and connecting roads project with 100% voters agreeing with the proposal.
This is a Group-A project with a total estimated cost of VND11.8 trillion (US$456 million), sourced from both the central and city budgets. The project will span Hanoi's Thanh Tri and Gia Lam districts, and Van Giang district in Hung Yen Province, scheduled for implementation from 2025 to 2028.
The planned bridge project length is approximately 7.5 kilometers with 5.4 kilometers in Hanoi and 2.1 kilometers in Hung Yen.
The starting point is near the end of the Ring Road 3.5 section from Phuc La-Van Phu to the Phap Van-Cau Gie Expressway, 360 meters from the right bank dyke of the Red River in Thanh Tri district.
The endpoint is about 700 meters from the left bank dyke of the Red River, near the Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway in Van Giang District. The cross-section will include the main bridge and parallel roads on both sides, ranging from 60 to 80 meters in width. The main bridge crossing the Red River will be about 680 meters long.
Ngoc Hoi Bridge is part of Ring Road 3.5. This ring road is being developed in phases, with 9.5 kilometers already invested, 5.5 kilometers under construction, and five other projects under planning with a total length of 25.1 kilometers.
The completion of Ring Road 3.5, including the Ngoc Hoi Bridge, will improve connectivity with Hung Yen Province and intersect with the major urban route linking Me Linh District, National Highways 1A and 6, Thang Long Highway, and the Phap Van-Cau Gie Expressway. This is expected to ease traffic congestion and distribute vehicle flow more effectively.
The bridge will help boost connectivity between Hanoi and Hung Yen, linking major urban areas such as Ecopark, Dai An, and Dream City, thereby promoting socio-economic development in Hanoi and provinces in the southern and southeastern parts of the Capital Region like Hung Yen, Ha Nam, and Bac Ninh.
