In his opening remarks, President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly Nguyen Thanh Binh said the 14th National Congress of the Party was a particularly important political event, marking the convergence of the Party’s will and the people’s aspirations and opening a new development era focused on self-reliance and resilience toward a civilized, prosperous and happy society.
Sharing the common joy of the Party, the State and the people, nearly 17 million older people nationwide expressed consensus and expectations for the major orientations set out by the Congress, viewing them as a key foundation for the country’s next stage of development.
On behalf of officials and members of the Association nationwide, President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly Nguyen Thanh Binh congratulated those elected to the Party Central Committee, the Politburo and the Secretariat of the 14th term.
He affirmed the strong confidence of older people in the leadership of the Party Central Committee, particularly General Secretary To Lam, who continues to be entrusted with the role of General Secretary of the 14th-term Party Central Committee.
Emphasizing the role of older people in national development, Binh said that since the Party assumed leadership, generations of older people have remained closely connected to and accompanied the revolution, serving as role models within families and communities. President Ho Chi Minh’s call to patriotic elders continues to be upheld and spread through concrete actions, helping to strengthen trust and consensus in society.
Today’s achievements are the result of many factors, including the Party’s leadership, Ho Chi Minh Thought and the enduring contributions of earlier generations, among them countless older people. As General Secretary To Lam has affirmed, in every historical period, older Vietnamese have held an important place, contributing to the preservation of spiritual foundations, fostering self-reliance and resilience and nurturing aspirations for sustainable development.
According to the organizers, the art program Dien Hong Spirit in the New Era not only celebrated the success of the 14th Party Congress but also provided an opportunity for older people to demonstrate civic responsibility and accompany the country’s shared development goals. Song, dance and music performances by older participants vividly reflected patriotism, solidarity and steadfast trust in the Party and the State.
Through the program, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly called on officials, members and older people nationwide to uphold the spirit of “the older the stronger the resolve,” set positive examples in social life, actively join emulation movements and contribute wisdom, experience and dedication to building a strong, civilized and happy country, thereby continuing to spread the Dien Hong spirit in the new era.
