Hanoi Council Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan encourages Dong Anh's new recruits

11:04 AM, Thu February 13, 2025

Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council, and Deputy Head of the city's National Assembly Delegation Nguyen Ngoc Tuan on February 13 visited, encouraged, and saw off new recruits from Dong Anh District as they departed for military service.

At the ceremony, the Commander of the Dong Anh District Military Command announced the decision of the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee on assigning targets for military conscription in 2025. Accordingly, this year, Dong Anh District has 243 young men enlisting. After the traditional flame-lighting ceremony and the beating of the drum to commence the military handover, Chairman of Dong Anh District People's Committee Nguyen Anh Dung delivered a speech encouraging the recruits before their departure.

Overview of the event.

Nguyen Anh Dung stated that in recent years, the Party Committee and authorities of Dong Anh District have focused on leading and directing the implementation of political tasks, socio-economic development, national defense, security, and social welfare with strong and synchronized measures, achieving positive results and creating favorable conditions for the district's rapid and sustainable development.

The annual recruitment and conscription of citizens have consistently met 100 percent of the assigned targets, with the quality of enlisted youth steadily improving. Many young men from the district have strived to become members of the Communist Party of Vietnam during their military service, rising to positions as officers, professional soldiers, or long-term personnel in the armed forces. Many discharged soldiers have returned to their localities and continued to uphold the qualities of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers" and the People's Police, contributing to local development, economic growth, and the construction of the heroic Dong Anh homeland.

Notably, in 2025, a total of 181 young men voluntarily submitted applications to join the military or the People's Public Security force, sharing a common aspiration to wear the uniform and demonstrate their deep sense of responsibility and patriotism. Becoming a soldier in the heroic People's Army of Vietnam or the People's Public Security is both a duty to the homeland and a source of honor and pride for the youth.

"Military and public security service is a sacred duty of young people and also an opportunity to learn, train, and demonstrate bravery and responsibility to their families and the nation. The Party Committee, government, political system from the district to grassroots levels, families, and society take great pride in those who are willing to dedicate themselves to serving our beloved country," Chairman of Dong Anh District People's Committee Nguyen Anh Dung emphasized.

In the solemn and heartfelt atmosphere, Nguyen Anh Dung urged the recruits to strive and uphold the heroic tradition of Dong Anh, following in the footsteps of their predecessors with steadfastness in their military careers. He called on them to remain absolutely loyal to the country, the Party, the State, and the people, continuously cultivating moral character, maintaining high determination, overcoming all difficulties, and fulfilling every assigned task.

"Each of you must always strive to improve your political, military, cultural, scientific, and technical knowledge and skills; maintain solidarity, mutual support in training, and readiness for combat and duties to grow and advance, deserving the trust of your families and hometown," Nguyen Anh Dung stated.

At the military handover ceremony, the Chairman of Dong Anh District People's Committee also called on local Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, and other organizations from the district to grassroots levels to continue implementing policies to support military families, ensuring that young soldiers can perform their duties without worries.

He also expressed gratitude to the parents and families who have raised and educated their children to become outstanding young men who are eager to serve and protect the country.

New recruit Ngo Quang Tu from Thuy Lam Commune, representing the young men enlisting this year from Dong Anh District, pledged to study and train hard to complete their assigned duties and fulfill their national obligations. Nguyen Kha Cuong, 21 years old, who is currently in his second year of university and requested a study deferment to enlist, stated that he wants to fulfill his civic duty to the country and hopes to perform excellently as a soldier, feeling both excited and emotional.

Le Cong The Vu, 20 years old, who was working before volunteering for military service, said that after witnessing the army assisting people in overcoming the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi, he was deeply moved and wanted to contribute his efforts to the people and the country. When his application was accepted, he felt happy but also a bit anxious about the new environment but believed he would quickly adapt. He is determined to complete his service to train himself and return as a responsible citizen.

Vu's mother, Dinh Thi Hien, shared that she was happy with her son's decision, hoping that military life would help him become more disciplined, resilient, and a useful member of society.

At exactly 8:40 AM, the recruits boarded the buses to return to their units and begin their service.
