Milestones of an 80 years journey with the nation
The delegation first visited Hanoi's 700-square-meter exhibition space within the "Prosperous Provinces, Strong Nation" section of Sub-Area 1 "Vietnam – Journey to a New Era."
Organized by the Hanoi Institute for Socio-Economic Development Studies, the exhibition is titled “Hanoi – Civilized and Heroic Capital: 80 Years of Journey with the Nation.”
The exhibition was divided into three main sections. The first, titled "Hanoi Echoing Forever in Heroic Songs," recreated historical milestones of Hanoi's struggle for independence, freedom, peace, and national unity.
The second, "Reconstruction, Renewal, and Development with the Nation," showcased achievements in post-war recovery and socio-economic development during 40 years of renovation.
The third, "New Development Thinking – Building a Civilized, Modern, Globally Connected Capital," highlighted Hanoi's vision as a cultured, modern city fully integrated with the world.
The spaces used diverse display methods, including models, artifacts, documentaries and images, integrated with interactive digital technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics, sound and light installations.

From thousand-yaer heritage to breakthrough technology
The delegation then visited "Hanoi Tradition and Innovation Space 2025," one of the largest exhibition areas among local government and organizational showcases within the overarching exhibition "80 Years of Independence – Freedom – Happiness."
This exhibition was held outdoors on a 15,000-square-meter area to the right of the National Exhibition Center.
In the context of Vietnam entering a new stage of development with aspirations for strength and prosperity, the Hanoi Tradition and Innovation Space 2025 expressed the determination of the Party, government, and people of the Capital to reignite the spirit of Thang Long, unite efforts, seize opportunities, overcome challenges, and build a civilized, modern, prosperous, and happy Capital city that leads the nation into a new era.
With the theme "Tradition and Innovation," the space was designed as a journey from thousand-year heritage to modernity, where visitors could travel back in time to relive historical legacies and then experience advanced technologies and groundbreaking innovations.
Secretary Bui Thi Minh Hoai and the Hanoi delegation toured all six exhibition areas that traced the capital's development from tradition to modernity.
The "Hanoi Hallmarks" section displayed exquisite handicrafts from traditional villages such as Bat Trang ceramics, Phu Vinh bamboo weaving, Kieu Ky gold leaf, Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay, Ngu Xa bronze casting, Chuong village conical hats, and Vac village fans. Each product embodied both craftsmanship and creative resilience.
The "Essence of Craft Streets" area allowed artisans to demonstrate the making of intricate products in jewelry, wood carving, embroidery, lotus silk weaving, and silk production. The "Pioneering Technology" area introduced high-tech products including AI, digital applications, and semiconductors, representing Hanoi's dynamic role as a hub of technological innovation.
The "Hanoi Delicacies" section showcased traditional culinary treasures such as Vong green rice, Bach Diep lotus tea, Uoc Le pork rolls, longan lotus sweet soup, and preserved fruits, giving visitors a taste of the Capital's rich food culture.
The "Heritage Source" area recreated cultural heritage through live performances of ca tru, cheo, and xam, inspiring younger generations to preserve traditions. The "Village within the City" recreated northern village landscapes with communal gates, banyan trees, village wells, and the statue of Saint Giong, bringing visitors back to rustic memories amid a modern urban setting.
City leaders also presented gifts to artisans who contributed to organizing the exhibition. Thousands of residents and visitors joined the delegation on September 1, making the Hanoi exhibitions a centerpiece of the National Day celebrations. The exhibitions, opened on August 28, are scheduled to close on September 5.
