Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Truong Viet Dung has signed Decision No. 1139/QD-UBND dated March 16, 2026, issuing the city's priority strategic technology list for the 2026–2035 period.
The list aims to guide investment, research and application of key breakthrough technologies, enhance science and technology capacity, promote innovation and digital transformation and build a smart Hanoi.
The city also seeks to improve labor productivity and increase the share of the digital economy in its GRDP, using the list as a basis for developing appropriate support policies to drive rapid, sustainable economic growth, strengthen competitiveness and improve residents' quality of life.
The Hanoi People's Committee requires departments, agencies and local authorities to develop plans for applying or developing products based on these strategic technologies within their respective sectors and integrate them into annual digital transformation and socio-economic development programs.
The city encourages technology enterprises to develop strategic technologies and related products to support digital transformation, digital government, digital economy and digital society, contributing to overall socio-economic development.
The Hanoi Department of Science and Technology is tasked with coordinating with relevant agencies to regularly update information and propose adjustments or additions to the strategic technology list, ensuring alignment with the city's development needs.
The strategic technology groups include artificial intelligence, digital twins, virtual and augmented reality; cloud computing, quantum technologies and big data; blockchain; next-generation mobile networks (5G/6G); robotics and automation; semiconductor technologies; advanced biomedical technologies; advanced energy and materials; cybersecurity; and aerospace technologies.
