Speaking at the event, Nguyen Anh Phong, Vice Chairman of the Thuong Cat Ward People's Committee, said Thuong Cat is a land rich in patriotic tradition and a resilient spirit of resistance against foreign aggression.
During the resistance war against French colonial rule, local residents embraced revolutionary ideals early from the Party's founding days and remained steadfast in following the Party.

From as early as 1937, Thuong Cat became a revolutionary base of the Tonkin Regional Party Committee and a designated safe zone for the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Communal houses, pagodas and many local households served as secret revolutionary bases. These locations sheltered and protected senior Party cadres, provided places for living and working, hosted meetings and rallies and safeguarded Party documents during that period.
To recognize the contributions of Thuong Cat residents and families to the revolutionary cause, in recent years the Party, the State and authorities at all levels have worked closely with local governments, heritage sites and families to review documentation and complete procedures for official recognition of revolutionary resistance memorials. The ward currently has 18 such sites, of which eight have been officially recognized by the city and marked with commemorative plaques.
Honoring the service and sacrifices of families that supported the revolutionary movement during the struggle for national independence from 1939 to 1945, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee issued decisions approving the installation of memorial plaques at four locations.

This recognition carries special significance as the country marks the 14th National Party Congress and the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Revolutionary resistance sites are the most vivid and valuable evidence of a heroic period in history. They reflect the patriotism and revolutionary tradition of the Party organization, local authorities and the people of Thuong Cat in the struggle to defend national independence and freedom. Preserving and promoting the value of these sites is not only a duty and responsibility but also an expression of gratitude from today's generation to earlier generations.
