VGP - The Ha Noi Department of Transport has released a dispatch suspending public passenger transport services between the capital and 14 other virus-hit provinces and cities, starting from July 8, to prevent Covid-19 from spreading.

Passenger transport operators, coach stations and firms active in transport services must continue to comply with Covid-19 safety protocols, according to the department’s order.

Buses, taxis, contract cars, passenger coaches and vehicles operating on fixed routes must suspend their services from Hanoi City to HCMC, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Daklak, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam, Danang, Thua Thien Hue, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa and Ha Nam.

Vehicles transporting officials, experts and employees at industrial parks or export processing zones are allowed to remain operational.

Passenger transport services will be allowed to resume only when these localities undergo 14 consecutive days without new Covid-19 infections.

Meanwhile, interprovincial coaches and vehicles operating on routes to other provinces and cities must follow Covid-19 infection prevention measures and not stop for drop-off or pickup services in virus-hit areas.

The local authorities also asked residents to stay home and go out only for essential purposes, stating from 6.00 p.m. of July 8.

Earlier, outdoor sports activities until further notice were suspended in a bid to prevent the spread of Covid-19 due to the high risk of infections from those who travel or return to the city from HCMC or other Covid-19-hit provinces,

The capital city has reported 276 infections since the fourth coronavirus wave hit the country on April 27.

Especially, since July 5, 22 locally-transmitted cases were detected at Dong Anh (eight), My Duc (eight), Thanh Xuan ( two), Dong Da (one), Hoang Mai (one), Bac Tu Liem district (one), Me Linh (one)./.
