Tran The Cuong elected as new Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council for the 2021–2026 term.
On November 13, the Hanoi People's Council elected Tran The Cuong, a member of the Standing Board of the Hanoi Party Committee and Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, as Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council for the 2021–2026 term.
Cuong was born on September 30, 1973 in Co Duong Hamlet, Phuc Thinh Commune, Hanoi.
From 1997 to 2005, he served as an officer and later Deputy Head of the Youth Affairs Division of the Hanoi Youth Union, and as a member of the Secretariat of the Hanoi Students Association.
From 2005 to 2014, he worked in the Office of the Hanoi People's Committee, rising to Head of the Culture and Society Division.
From 2014 to 2016, he served as Vice Chairman of the Bac Tu Liem District People's Committee. From 2016 to 2018, he was Deputy Chief of the Office of the Hanoi People's Council and Head of its Culture and Society Committee.
From 2019 to mid-2020, he served as Vice Secretary of the Bac Tu Liem District Party Committee and Chairman of the district People's Committee.
From 2020 to 2021, he served as Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports. From August 2021 to October 2025, he served as Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
Since October 2025, he has been a member of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee, Party Secretary of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
At the council's 27th session, he was elected Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council for the 2021–2026 term.
