Officials from the Office of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation and the Hanoi People's Council donate to assist people affected by storms and floods in the central coastal region.
Responding to the call of the Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Office of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation and the Hanoi People's Council launched a donation campaign on November 23 to support people in the central and Central Highlands provinces affected by severe floods.
Attending the event were Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Council Phung Thi Hong Ha, Standing Member of the Hanoi Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Tran The Cuong and Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Council and Deputy Head of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation Pham Thi Thanh Mai.
Right after the launch, leaders of the People's Council, the National Assembly Delegation, city departments and all staff contributed at least one day's salary to help affected communities.
The contributions will help ease hardships faced by residents in the central and Central Highlands regions.
Earlier on November 22, Hanoi leaders visited Gia Lai Province and delivered VND50 billion (US$1.9 million) to support residents affected by destructive storms and floods. Hanoi also pledged continued cooperation with Gia Lai in recovery, production restoration and livelihood stabilization after the floods.
In addition, Hanoi allocated VND10 billion ($380,000) from its Relief Fund to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee in response to the nationwide call for support.
