Hanoi authorities and people donate $1.1 million to Lam Dong, Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa provinces.
On November 24 at the National Assembly House, Hanoi delivered financial support to the provinces of Dak Lak, Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa, with each receiving VND10 billion (US$380,000).
The activity responded to the call of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and the spirit of "Hanoi for the whole country, together with the whole country."
Attending the ceremony at the central level were Politburo Member and Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Do Van Chien and Central Committee Member, Secretary-General and Head of the Office of the National Assembly Le Quang Manh.
Representing Hanoi were Standing Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong, Standing Member of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Hanoi Fatherland Front Committee Bui Huyen Mai, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Council and Deputy Head of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation Pham Thi Thanh Mai and leaders of city departments.
Also attending were Central Committee Member and Deputy Head of the Central Strategic Policy Commission, Dak Lak National Assembly delegate Pham Dai Duong; Lam Dong National Assembly Deputy Head Nguyen Huu Thong and Khanh Hoa National Assembly Deputy Head Dang Thi Minh Phuong.
At the ceremony, on behalf of the Party, government and people of the capital, Standing Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong presented the financial support to the three provinces.
He said natural disasters and floods in 2025 caused widespread devastation across the northern, central, south-central and Central Highlands regions.
With the spirit of national solidarity, Hanoi has so far supported 22 provinces and cities affected by natural disasters with more than VND200 billion ($7.6 million).
The Politburo recently assigned Hanoi to directly support Gia Lai Province. Hanoi has already provided VND50 billion ($1.9 million) to help the province recover and stabilize residents' lives. Both sides are now working on additional support plans.
Phong said Hanoi shares deep sympathy with the losses in Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong and hopes residents across the country, including those in Hanoi, continue supporting the heavily affected areas.
He noted that although Hanoi was not directly assigned to support the three provinces, any needs the city can assist with should be communicated so that appropriate solutions can be arranged.
He expressed gratitude to the Office of the National Assembly and the Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly for enabling Hanoi to carry out the meaningful activity at the National Assembly headquarters.
