Hanoi officials and staff of Do Muoi High School cut the ribbon to inaugurate the new school.
On January 12, the Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee of Yen So Ward held a ceremony to install a commemorative plaque recognizing the construction of Do Muoi High School as a project celebrating the 14th National Party Congress.
The ceremony welcomed Phung Thi Hong Ha, Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Council, and Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee.
At the ceremony, Vu Tuan Dat, Vice Secretary of the Yen So Ward Party Committee and Chairman of the Yen So Ward People's Committee, presented a brief account of the life and career of former Party General Secretary Do Muoi (1917–2018), a steadfast and outstanding revolutionary leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
He emphasized that Do Muoi's life and career exemplified integrity, intellect, moral uprightness and wholehearted devotion to the nation and the people.
Do Muoi was born on February 2, 1917, in Dong My Commune, Thanh Tri District, now Nam Phu Commune, Hanoi. He joined revolutionary activities in 1936 and entered the Party in June 1939.

Throughout his revolutionary career, he consistently demonstrated the qualities of a resilient and unwavering communist fighter and stood as a shining example of revolutionary heroism.
French colonial authorities once arrested and imprisoned him at Ha Dong Prison and Hoa Lo Prison. In 1945, he escaped from prison and continued to serve on the Ha Dong Provincial Party Committee's uprising committee, contributing to the local seizure of power.
After the August Revolution, Do Muoi held many important leadership positions at local levels and later received continued trust from the Party and State to undertake major responsibilities in economic management and state administration.

The Hanoi People's Committee's decision to name the school after the late General Secretary expresses deep gratitude to a senior leader and conveys a message of traditional education, inspiring generations of teachers and students to strive, contribute and learn, while affirming the Party and State's priority for education investment.
The project broke ground on April 11, 2024, with a total investment of more than VND332.3 billion (US$12.6 million) on a 9,400-square-meter site, a construction density of 45%, five above-ground floors and one basement level.
The school includes 21 classrooms and functional rooms, equipped with modern, smart and synchronized teaching facilities that meet contemporary educational requirements.

The project reached full completion in August 2025 and is scheduled to open for the new academic year, two years ahead of schedule and nearly 50% shorter than the approved timeline.
During implementation, project units coordinated closely to apply effective construction measures and plans suited to actual conditions, supporting thrift and waste prevention policies.
Final project costs totaled more than VND296 billion ($11.3 million), about 10.7% lower than the initially approved investment level.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vu Trung Thanh, the grandson of the late General Secretary Do Muoi, expressed the family's honor and gratitude to authorities, the education sector and the locality for associating his grandfather's name with a school that nurtures future generations for the country and Yen So Ward.
"Our family believes that from this school, students will grow not only in knowledge but also in aspiration and responsibility," he said.
"We hope to see young generations together build a strong, prosperous and humane Vietnam that keeps pace with the times, in line with President Ho Chi Minh's sacred wish for our country to stand shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the world," Thanh said.
At the ceremony, Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Council Phung Thi Hong Ha presented the certificate recognizing Do Muoi High School as a commemorative project for the 14th National Party Congress and offered flowers to the school's leadership.
