The central coastal city of Hue flooded by heavy rains in mid-October.
Politburo member, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Head of the city's National Assembly Delegation Bui Thi Minh Hoai sent letters of sympathy and encouragement to the Party committees, authorities and people of Hue, Danang and Quang Ngai Province.
In her letter sent on October 31, Secretary Hoai wrote that heavy rains at the end of October have caused severe flooding and major property losses in several areas of these localities.
"On behalf of the Party Committee, government, authorities and people of the capital, the Hanoi Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi extended our heartfelt sympathy and solidarity to the officers, soldiers and people of Hue, Danang and Quang Ngai, especially those affected by the floods," she said.
With the spirit of "mutual support and compassion" and the motto "Hanoi for the whole country, together with the whole country," Hanoi decided to contribute VND10 billion ($380,000) to each locality's Relief Fund to help overcome the consequences of floods and ease difficulties for the local Party committees, authorities and people.
Secretary Hoai expressed her belief that with the care of the Party and State, the solidarity and support from other provinces and cities and the determination and resilience of the local officers and people, the affected localities will soon overcome challenges and restore normal life.
On the same day, following the direction of the Hanoi Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi decided to allocate VND30 billion ($1.1 million) from the city's Relief Fund to support Hue, Danang and Quang Ngai, with each locality receiving VND10 billion ($380,000).
The funds will be transferred to the Relief Fund accounts managed by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of these three localities.
