National conference on preparation for parliament election concludes

After a focused and disciplined working session, the national conference on preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and to People's Councils at all levels for the 2026 to 2031 term concluded its agenda and wrapped up all assigned tasks on the morning of November 15.

The conference was connected online to 34 provinces and cities and to local communes and wards, with about 2,000 participants at the central venue, delegates at 34 provincial venues and more than 10,000 participants at 3,321 commune-level venues. November 15, 2025.

Overview of the meeting. 

Delegates heard leaders from the Government, the National Election Council, the Party Central Organization Commission and the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front introduce key documents related to the election. November 15, 2025.

General Secretary To Lam delivered important guidance on the purpose, requirements and significance of the election and outlined major directions for localities and agencies to follow as they lead and carry out their responsibilities. November 15, 2025.

He emphasized that a successful election will lay the groundwork for building and consolidating the new State apparatus and will provide the political and social foundation needed to implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress. November 15, 2025.

He added that the election is also an opportunity to affirm the leadership capacity of the Party, the effectiveness of State management and the performance of the political system at a time when the country has just completed streamlining the administrative apparatus and reorganizing local government into a two-level structure. He affirmed that this election is a central political task for 2026 and called on the entire Party, people and armed forces to prepare thoroughly to ensure a democratic, lawful, safe and efficient election that truly reflects the will of the people. November 15, 2025.

In his closing remarks, National Assembly Chairman and Chairman of the National Election Council Tran Thanh Man stressed that the outcome of the election will help strengthen democracy, consolidate national unity, reinforce public trust and support the country's comprehensive renewal and development. Immediately after the conference, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Election Council, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and local authorities will continue to coordinate closely to carry out the tasks set by law. November 15, 2025.

Key tasks include determining the structure and allocation of candidates, conducting the consultation process, forming local election bodies, publishing candidate lists, promoting communication, ensuring security and order and monitoring compliance with election laws to select candidates who are truly deserving of representing the people.
