Responding to President Ho Chi Minh's call that "Spring is the Tet for planting trees, making the country greener with each passing spring," the arrival of spring, with its warm weather, has always been an occasion for people across the nation to plant trees and sow seeds for the new year. President Ho Chi Minh taught that "For the benefit of ten years, we must plant trees; for the benefit of a hundred years, we must cultivate people."

Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh and the local elders attend the event.
Following his teachings, Nam Tu Liem District has always regarded tree planting as an essential task, integral to the district's comprehensive development not only for today but also for future generations.
Phung Khoang Lake Park, the venue for the 2025 Tet Tree Planting Festival, is a large public park situated among densely populated urban areas in Nam Tu Liem District. Just two months ago, the site was still incomplete and had yet to be opened for public use. However, with the decisive and effective direction of the city, and the responsible coordination of relevant departments, agencies, and investors, Nam Tu Liem District now has a spacious and beautiful park serving the public interest. The park contributes to enhancing the landscape of the district and its neighboring areas, adding an invaluable green space to the heart of the city.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Nam Tu Liem District People's Committee Mai Trong Thai emphasized the crucial role of tree planting in the context of severe environmental pollution and global climate change, which have significantly impacted society and people's lives. Alongside accelerating industrialization, modernization, and urbanization, the protection of the ecosystem is vital to ensuring sustainable development and safeguarding people's livelihoods.
Under Program 03 of the Municipal Party Committee, Nam Tu Liem District is committed to meeting Target 4 on urban tree planting. Between 2021 and 2025, the district aims to plant a total of 5,090 urban trees. From 2021 to 2024, the district has already planted 5,978 trees and plans to plant an additional 1,000 trees in 2025.

Locals attend the event.
"Therefore, at the beginning of the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025, I urge all Party committees, authorities, departments, agencies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and political-social organizations to widely disseminate information about the purpose and significance of the Tet Tree Planting Festival. It is essential to highlight the substantial role, profound impact, long-term benefits, and humanitarian value of tree planting to people from all walks of life," the district chairman stated.
Mai Trong Thai also called on all levels, sectors, and ward People's Committees to actively participate in and organize the Tet Tree Planting Festival in a manner suited to their local conditions. He stressed that the initiative should be practical, effective, and cost-efficient, avoiding unnecessary formalities.
On this occasion, the chairman also urged all officials, Party members, youth union members, students, and residents to actively take part in tree-planting activities. He encouraged each person to plant at least one tree and take care of it to ensure healthy growth, turning this effort into a continuous and widespread movement. By doing so, the initiative would become a meaningful and beneficial activity, contributing to making Nam Tu Liem District increasingly bright, green, clean, and beautiful.
