The Hanoi delegation visits a craft village in the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt.
Continuing its working trip to Egypt from May 25 to May 27, the Hanoi foreign relations delegation visited historical and cultural sites and surveyed traditional craft villages on the outskirts of Cairo.
The delegation was led by Nguyen Lan Huong, member of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi.
The visit aimed to promote cultural, tourism, and people-to-people cooperation between Hanoi and localities in Egypt.
While in Egypt, the delegation toured some of the country's most famous historical landmarks, including the Giza Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum, as well as traditional craft villages in Cairo's suburbs.
A highlight of the trip was a visit to the Harrani Handwoven Carpet Village, known for its handmade rugs woven from wool and natural fibers featuring scenes from Egyptian daily life and ancient legends.
The delegation also explored a traditional papyrus paper exhibition and the Khan el-Khalili craft market, famous for its silverware and handmade jewelry.
The blend of historical heritage and vibrant craft villages has created an Egypt that is both mysterious and lively, leaving a lasting impression on visitors from all over the world.
During the surveys, the Hanoi delegation explored how local authorities preserve heritage and develop tourism while maintaining cultural values – experiences that can be applied back home in Hanoi.
"This is a valuable opportunity for Hanoi to learn from international experiences in preserving cultural heritage and developing traditional craft villages linked with tourism," Huong said.
"At the same time, it is a concrete and effective step in promoting people-to-people diplomacy – a soft and humane form of foreign relations."
