Hanoi to carry out national action plan on sustainable production and consumption (10:19 16/09/2020)
Under the plan, Hanoi targets a reduction of 5 - 8% in input material loss during the production process in 2021 - 2025 in various industrial sectors, including textile, beverage, steel, plastic, chemical, papers; 100% of districts and wards to raise public’s awareness in sustainable consumption; 100% of industrial parks and 70% of craft villages to understand about sustainable production and consumption; 100% of super markets and retailers using environmentally-friendly packages instead of single-use plastic bags; establishing sustainable supply chains; promoting the use of environmentally-friendly products.
Funds allocated for the plan during the 2021 - 2025 period would be mobilized from the state budget and donors both domestically and internationally, while Hanoi’s authorities are set to provide VND65 billion.
Hanoi’s Department of Industry and Trade is responsible for cooperating with related agencies in implementing the national action plan on sustainable production and consumption in 2021 - 2025 in accordance with the law; revising existing legal frameworks to support the plan; cooperating with the Ministry of Industry and Trade in carrying out sustainable trade and consumption activities between Hanoi and other provinces/cities.
Additionally, the Department of Industry and Trade is tasked with cooperating with the Department of Internal Affairs in honoring individuals and organizations with outstanding contribution in the national action plan on sustainable production and consumption in 2021 - 2025.
