Over 5,000 volunteers joins National Volunteer Day (16:56 7/12/2015)

HNP – Over 5,000 volunteers took part in the 2015 National Volunteer Day which was held at the Hoa Binh Park on December 5. The event was co-organized by Ha Noi Youth Blood Donation Mobilization Association, National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) and Ha Noi Youth Volunteer Association to mark the International Volunteer Day (December 5).

The blood donation campaign attracts a large number of young people.

The highlight of the program was a blood donation campaign which was expected to collect around 2,500 units of blood to help patients in need of blood.

Adressing the event, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Nguyen Phi Long stressed that event aims at honoring volunteers and voluntary organisations and mobilising the community to join hands for the development of social activities and the country.

Representative of United Nations Development Program (UNDP)in Viet Nam highly appreciated volunteer programs for the community of Viet Nam.

On the occasion, Deputy Head of the CPV's Commission for Mass Mobilization Tran Thi Bich Thuy, on behalf of the Prime Minister, presented Certificates of Merit to Ha Noi Youth Blood Donation Mobilization Association.

In addition, attendees participated in various activities including arts performances, camps, charitable programs as well as exchanges on the work of volunteers.

Specially, delegates attending the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Youth Exchange Meeting also took part in the event and gave gifts to children suffering from blood diseases.
